I am a geek, a reader, and always thinking.
My Self-Summary
Let's see here... I'm an avid
reader, I read and write constantly, and
I love stories,
conversation, and
dancing far, far too late into the
morning. I also love
long walks as (cliche as that may
sound), especially in urban environments, and exploration of all
kinds.
I'm a geek, but I prefer hanging out with people who have more
going on than any one obsession. I'm a lifelong learner, and a bit
of a novelty junky (music, places, people, events, patterns); no
hipster compulsion to be first, so long as it's new to me!
At my happiest? I'm on a long walk with a good friend, exploring
and enmeshed in conversation. Or holed up in a coffee shop with a
laptop and notebooks, planning some crazy event or project. Or I'm
sprawled out in the sunshine reading. Or out on the dance floor,
rocking out and lost in the beat, free. Or in a crowd of people
I've never met before, learning commonalities and connections and
histories and stories, and a little more insight into what it is to
be human. Or curled up with that special someone, in those kinds of
conversations that always happen right before you both drift off,
lulled by bodyheat.
Things that make me happy:
* Learning
* Creative interplay
* Meaningful connections with others
* Reminders of life's near-infinite possibilities
And you?
What I’m doing with my life
I've lived all over the United States (FL, VA, MI, ID, TX, NY, MN),
but I've been living in and near the Twin Cities since high school.
I graduated from the University of MN several years ago, and have
worked ever since for internet-related companies as a
consultant/developer. Currently I'm a web developer for an outdoor
supply company, and relishing my employee discount.
I live just east of Uptown, and south of downtown; I'm a rambler,
so it's great to have interesting destinations nearby. 'Tis also
nice to have a place to myself after having roommates since
childhood. And it's a blast walking around the boundaries where
north/south streets shift to the diagonal diamond of downtown. I
love liminal zones, and the layered complexity of urban
scenery.
Like most folks on here, I'm looking for a relationship, but I'm
not a one-night-stand kinda guy. What I'm really looking for is
someone who is stable, passionate about life, fun to talk to, and
that I can get along with long-term. A dance and debate partner,
muse and co-conspirator. While having things in common is
important, it's that shared attitude of curiosity, playfulness, and
passion for life that's what I'm really hunting for. If you have
that, you'll have me hooked in no time.
I’m really good at
Learning new things. Finding the bright side. The perfectly wrong
thing to say. Giving compliments. Stories. Integrating new people
into a group.
I'm also a reasonably good dancer, and I talk good.
The first things people usually notice about me
I haven't the foggiest idea. Probably depends on context.

C: Beth Gibbons/Portishead, Tom Waits, Radiohead, BT, Jim Croce,
Burial, Flogging Molly, Amon Tobin, Juno Reactor, Sigur Ros, always
looking for new additions to the mix. To be honest, I'm more
ignorant of music than I should be, so by all means, suggest
something!
D) My dad's burritos, my Mom's chicken and rice, just about
anything that's spicy (flavorful, not just heat), or with a complex
flavor.
The six things I could never do without
Hope. My laptop.
Books. (Probably could guess that one)
Glasses. (Well, y'know, barring Lasik surgery, but I like being
able to make the world go fuzzy when I want to) Good
pondering music.
Music in general, for that matter.
Imagination.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whatever I've been reading lately, the future, plans and
scheduling. I usually spend a night or two a week writing, so I
usually think about whatever I'm working on during the rest of the
time. I like to have plans: even when they end up changing, it's a
good way to stay motivated.
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends. Either going to bed early to catch back up on sleep for
the weekend, out at a club dancing, at home reading or writing
something, or playing games at a friend's house.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Hmm... I don't have a TV, because I'm worried that if I did, I'd
watch it constantly, and wake up 40 years old without having done
anything worthwhile. I exaggerate for effect, but seriously... I'm
better off without the option. I enjoy watching shows with friends
now and again, but as an event rather than a default.
Besides that? Just ask; I'll answer any question.
You should message me if
You're smart, passionate and enjoy a good conversation.
