What I’m doing with my life
Swinging
Kettlebells, learning
Z-Health, feeling
grateful that I have such an awesome
Personal Trainer, empowering my
daughter to reach and exceed her
potential, enjoying the fruits of my
labors, perfecting my culinary craft,
writing songs, learning
Mandarin, being fascinated
by
Acupuncture
&

roots, listening to my
spirit and my body, planning for my
family's future, enjoying each breath...one at a time.
I’m really good at
preparing delicious traditional
New Orleans dishes at the drop of a
hat with love.
Active listening and
compassionate
communicating.
Dancing till dawn. Expressing my
desires. Balancing acts. Throwing a memorable
dinner party. Seeing and
encouraging
potential in individuals and
organizations. Making people laugh. Manifesting my dreams.
Overcoming obstacles. Enduring through difficult times. Surviving
to fight another day. Standing up for what I believe. Giving foot
massage. Receiving
compliments. Sharing my
toys. Playing well with others. Confusing
the
gender rigid.
Nurturing those I love and others. Being present. Exchanging
power. Negotiating.
Mediating. Celebrating everyday victories. Enjoying the little
things. :)
The first things people usually notice about me
...my communication style. Although, I have no accent until I'm
really tired. My
Southern culture shines through in my
willingness to speak warmly and at length with strangers.
Physically, people seem to comment on my
hazel eyes or my hair. My cute kid.
My beautiful
dog.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
anything by
Laurell K Hamilton, lots
by many strong womyn writers of too many genres but especially
science
fiction/
fantasy and
medicine.
The Inn of the
Sixth Happiness.
Celtic traditionals and rock.
Folk music and
filk.
Latvian chorales. Indian curries,
Thai, Rustic
Italian,
Salvadoran,
Asian,
Sushi,
Creole, Southern Home Cooking and my
grandmother's everyday fare.
The six things I could never do without
Kettlebells,
books,
community, animal
companions, music and old growth
forests.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
taking small actions to reduce
global warming. Sustainable
society.
Touch. How
to live authentically. How to serve society from a place of owning
my power. What excuses can I let go of today to free and empower me
to reach my potential.
On a typical Friday night I am
watching
movies
with my
family,
laughing and
cooking/eating amazing food.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I had a crush on Jane of
Tarzan &
Jane in 1969. I wasn't yet 3 years old.
Climbing up into the top bunk, I would hang from the "safety rail"
and pretend that I was Tarzan as portrayed by
Ron Ely: a champion of
social justice, an
excellent
mediator and a friend to the
animals and the
environment. When Jane
was at the mercy of the evil-doers, I would pretend to swoop in and
help her free herself. Later we would get married and raise jungle
kids who could talk to elephants, swing on vines with the monkeys
and wrestle tigers. Important note: no tigers or evil-doers were
harmed in the construction of this fantasy.
