My self-summary
I'm an active, smart, educated man who is easy going and loves outdoor sports. I enjoy the company of thoughtful, knowledgeable people who can hold a good conversation, and I'm intrigued by those more knowledgeable than me who can teach me new things. I read a lot, but I also get out and enjoy the good life night and day. In addition to my scientific background, I also have strong creative streak, and I love musical and artistic pursuits. I also love to travel and mingle with other cultures, but I haven't done nearly as much traveling recently as I would like.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as an environmental scientist for a local consulting firm. Somewhere down the road I intend to return to school and earn a Master's degree, but for now I am happy where I am.
I’m really good at
Skiing. Bouldering. Scrambling. Mountain Biking. Cooking. Conversation. Puns (you've been warned).
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, my blues eyes, and once we're introduced, my first name.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love music and listen to a wide variety of styles: House, Techno, Breaks, DnB, Reggae, Dub, Ska, Rocksteady, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Disco, Classic Rock, Metal, Alternative, Indy, Jazz, Classical and Folk.

I'm currently reading Collapse by Jared Diamond, Born Wild by Tony Fitzjohn, and A History of the Middle East by Peter Mansfield. Next up I plan to read Guns, Germs & Steel by Jared Diamond and The Dharma Bums by Karouac. Favorite books include Shantaram, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Breakfast of Champions, Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm, Call of the Wild, White Fang, The Hobbit, LotR, Dune, Snow Crash, History of the World in 6 Glasses, On Human Nature (Wilson), The Power of Babel, The Blank Slate, and The Rebel Sell.

As for movies, I have way too many favorites to list here, but I'll throw a few at you: Zoolander, Idiocracy, Half Baked, Hot Fuzz, Life of Brian, Swingers, Casablanca, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Last of the Mohicans, Seven Years in Tibet, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, 2001, Dune, Akira, Bladerunner. I've recently seen Looper, Seven Psychopaths, and The Avengers and really liked all three.

I also love to cook, and I enjoy trying new places to eat. Bonterra, Clive Burger, Niko's Bistro, Cibo, Kinjo, and The Pig and Duke are current faves in Calgary. I've also like wine, sprits (scotch especially) and microbrews, and am trying to improve my wine knowledge.
The six things I could never do without
Music and dancing, cycling, skiing, the mountains, fresh air, my friends and my family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, people, society, world events, music, traveling, my future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hmm, this could be a few things. Sometimes I go to the climbing wall. Sometimes I meet up with friends for a bite to eat and drinks. Sometimes I stay at home and read. Sometimes I head out of town on the weekend to see friends and seek adventure.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You'll have to ask me yourself. ;)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–36
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Message me if you like what you've read. I'm open minded, but I also know what I like and what I want. I'm fine with dating casually for now, but beyond the short term I'm hoping to find someone special. I just don't want drama, insecurity, dishonesty, self-obsession, or flakiness. I'm also hoping to meet someone educated, but education comes in many forms and doesn't necessarily mean having a degree (although it's a bonus, for sure). At least have some decent goals in life, a career, an art, a passion, a bucket list, anything. I also highly value girls who approach relationships as a partnership and who contribute to it as earnestly as I do. Or we could just have a good time. Your move.
