My Self-Summary

Call me John...

I'm a gamer, geek, a little bit of a reader, a thinker, a giver, a person who listens, a *PROUD* Bostonian, a pack rat, an entertainer (in a unique, often weird way).

I consider myself very ethical and moral. I'm judgmental because I like patterns, but I enjoy, look forward to, and love it when people keep me on my toes.

I like hanging out with a few friends at "home", movies, some other place, public or private. I'm not one for parties, and I'm not a fan of crowds. I like cities. I have a fear of perfect silence. I like the sound of water and cars driving in the rain.

And about "home"... (Caution, sappiness follows!)

Home is something that is important to me, yet I don't have it. I don't think home is a place where I live, but rather, a place where I feel safe, content, without worry. Home to me is standing in a calm, cool, gentle breeze that ruffles leaves as much as my hair. Home is standing outside in a parking lot or a forest. Home is a small drizzle or flurry, just enough to feel the water or flakes hitting me, but not enough to wet me. Home is 2 AM. People know me as a talker, but I'm silent when I'm home.

...Yeah...

I'm probably more things too, so ask me and I'll add them.

What I’m doing with my life

I used to be a keyholder for Waldenbooks, but I moved to South Carolina and had to leave it. Currently, I'm a server at a local restaurant. I'd like to be a writer, but I hardly practice it enough to call myself one. I'm also a newbie Geocacher.

Also, I'm trying to learn how to play my 12 hole ocarina. I'm getting pretty good at it, but I've got a long way to go to call myself a master.

I’m really good at

Listening. People say I'm good at it. I suppose I agree, though I'm known to ask the same question multiple times. Poor memory, I guess. I'm good at expressing myself, articulating my thoughts. Sure, I stumble on my words a lot looking for the right one, but most of the time I go with the flow and talk without thinking. (Oh boy has that gotten me into fun situations...)

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm unique in that weird way, as said above. I'm energetic, but awfully cautious with doing new things. I talk a lot if I don't have something to do or listen to. ...Come to think of it, maybe I do that because I fear silence...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Ender's Game. BattleTech: Mercenary's Star. BattleTech: Blood of Kerensky Trilogy. The Lost Fleet: Dauntless/Fearless/Courageous/Relentless. Tales of the Otori. The Book of Imaginary Beings. Mike A Stackpole's Age of Discovery Trilogy. V for Vendetta graphic novel. House of Leaves. Star Wars: Death Star. Death By Black Hole by Neil deGrasse Tyson. The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Movies: The Last Samurai. (Even though I dislike Cruise Control with a passion.) Star Wars. (Who CAN'T like this?) Star Trek 6. Fallen. 300. Transformers. Battlestar: Galactica (the reimagining). Gettysburg. The Village. V for Vendetta. (That movie makes you think, and thinking is good!) Wall-E]!!!

Music: Linkin Park. OCRemix.org (good remixes to great classics!). Techno. Just about anything on the radio that isn't Country... ...Oh I can't stand most of that stuff...

Food: Pork Fried Rice!

The six things I could never do without

Cell phone. Computer. Internet. Other electronics. Paintball and airsoft. Rain. Thunder.

More than six. Sue me.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Useless, needless things that I find totally interesting... or I just think about things that cross my path. I love continuously learning, even if the subject is pointless in everyday life.

On a typical Friday night I am

Wasting time, staring at the stars, or just entertaining myself. Friday is just another day of the week; a day I used to get paid on. Maybe if I've made plans with a friend, I'll go to the movies...hate going alone.

HOWEVER... Saturday? Airsoft!!!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

If you ask me a direct question expecting a direct, honest answer, I'll tell you. I can be brutally honest at times, though I try to keep a heart in words if they sting.

One quirk I'll mention though: For some reason, I think girls who have slightly, slightly crossed eyes are cute. I don't know what it is about them, I just do...

Yay for putting up embarrassing things on the internet!
