So I had something really artistic and poetic up but people got confused and subsequently ran away. So here's a more pedestrian version.

I'm a nice guy, who favors intellect above outward appearances, quick witted and have a eccentric sense of humor. I do high-level thinking at my work, so I tend to relax at home by turning my brain off and watching a movie or read a book. I get along with almost everybody although initially I tend to be a bit shy.

I have a whole range of outlandish hobbies as I'm interested in almost anything. As an example, I'm collecting titles; so far I'm a Scottish Lord and an ordained minister. I'm looking into becoming a Transylvanian Count. (I could make you "Lady [your name here] of Blackwood")

My perfect girl would be somebody who is curious about life, a firm believer in science, playful enough to enjoy the silly things and has a bright outlook on the future. Being an actual girl is of course a bonus.

I am interesting, caring, and smart.

Currently working at a university in Rotterdam, doing computer admin work and DNA sequencing. At home, I enjoy playing games and am trying to build my own computer operating system. It's slow going but fun to do.

I'm also a font of trivia and delight in sharing interesting but in the end useless information. I'm almost always singing when I'm happy, even if I'm not especially good at it.

I like fantasy and science fiction books. I use them to unwind after a long at work. But I've also got a lot of science books. Quantum mechanics is fun to read about as long as you don't have to prove the equations. Since I've gotten an e-reader, I go through about a book a week. Some favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Isaac Asimov, R.A. Salvatore, L.E. Modesitt Jr., Frank Herbert, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, John Norman, Douglas Adams.

I like comedy and animated movies, like Pixar and Disney but also anime. I collect bad horror and bad science fiction movies where you can see the zipper in the monster suit and the UFO floating by on a string. If you ever heard of MST3K then you know what I mean. I'm not a fan of drama or thrillers.

My music tastes are very eclectic. I like happy upbeat music, dance or anything that's interesting and unusual, like Aqua and Toybox and heaps of JPOP. Some more are Dragon Force, Glukosa, Weird Al. I also listen to a lot of trance, dance or smooth jazz. If I had to choose a favorite band though, it'd be Iron Maiden. I dislike modern 'rap' (I hate stuff like 50 Cent, but like Run DMC) and Country & Western.

I like food and enjoy most forms of it. I can also cook reasonably well, though when I'm alone I tend to eat out a lot.
There's a great sushi restaurant in Rotterdam where dishes come round on a conveyor belt. So it's tasty and fun at the same time. I own my own pair of chopsticks and I'm not afraid to use them.

Oscar Wilde said it all.. "There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it."

That said, I'm pretty happy with my family, friends, computer, books and life in general.
