I am open-minded, quirky, and kind.
My Self-Summary
Born and raised in the county of …
Actually I was born and raised in Poland and moved to the United
States when I was 14. I lived in Connecticut for a couple of years
before coming to South Florida.
I’m mostly a quiet and reserved person and as a result I come
across as shy. Introverted sums up my personality quite succinctly.
I’m non-confrontational to a fault, rolling with the punches
because life’s too short to get riled up over trivial BS. Overall I
consider myself to be a chill, serene, down to earth kind of guy.
However there are times when emotions get the better of me and I
blow a fuse and get irate and temperamental.
I am very open-minded and non-judgmental. I always question my own
opinions and get annoyed by people who tell me to "pick a side and
stick with it." I'm also sentimental - I have a box full of
sentimental items, like the first middle school love note I
received and the first speeding ticked I received.
I'm a hopeless romantic and a believer in true love; the type of
love that makes everything else so much less significant; the type
of love that makes life meaningful. But I'm also a realist and
realize that there is no such thing as a perfect soul mate. So
instead of looking for one I'm searching for that special someone
to love and be loved by. A sappy fantasy? I said I was a hopeless
romantic.
When it comes to my interests and hobbies they are quite varied. I
strive to be a Renaissance Man, a person with deep knowledge in a
broad field of interests and activities. In fact that is the origin
of my username – Renesans means Renaissance in my native Polish.
I'm not there yet, so for now "jack of all trades, master of none"
is a better description. Some of my interests include:
-
Natural
Sciences
-
History
-
Philosophy
-
Psychology
-
Astronomy
-
Mythology
-
College
Football
-
Theology
-
Politics and
current

-
Pop
Culture
Activities I enjoy:
-
Reading
-
Writing
-
Video
games/
computer games
-
Running
-
Mountain
Hiking - sadly South Florida doesn't offer much, unless I got a
gas mask and went climbing landfills.
Other likes and dislikes:
-
Beach - nothing is
quite as relaxing like a day at the beach.
-
Roller
Coasters - I've ridden almost all of the coasters in Florida
and many others in other states. Kumba at Busch Gardens is my
favorite.
-
Cleanliness -
my home and my car are always spotless.
Finally, I want to try a new hobby/activity but I can't decide
between learning:
-To dance
-To play a musical instrument
-To play golf
-A new language
-Martial arts
What I’m doing with my life
I recently graduated from college with a degree in electrical
engineering and I'm currently looking for a job in that field. As
luck would have it I finished school during one of the worst job
markets in years.
I’m really good at
Organizing and
Planning - "A
place for everything and everything in its place." I live by that
precept.
Being on Time - someone once told me that, "To be early is to be on
time; to be on time is to be late; and to be late is like not
showing up at all."
Cooking - in
college I had to cook my own meals in order to save money. As it
turned out I am a pretty decent cook (at least for my own tastes)
and I even revised some of the recipes my mom gave me.
The first things people usually notice about me
My accent; English is my second language and despite living in the
States for over 10 years I still haven't gotten rid of it - not
that I want to.
My eyes; people say I have pretty eyes. Narcissistic of me to say
that? Maybe, but I'm just telling it like it is.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
Reading is my passion and I read all sorts of books, both fiction
and non-fiction. In the fiction department my favorite books of all
time would probably be:
-
The
Catcher in the Rye
-
Catch-22
-
1984
-
Frankenstein
-
The
Lord of the Rings
Besides Lord of the Rings I like a lot of other fantasy and sci-fi.
My favorite authors in the genre:
-
Isaac
Asimov

My other favorite authors include:
-
Chuck
Palahniuk
-
Kurt
Vonnegut
-
Ernest
Hemingway
-
Alexandre
Dumas
Movies:
Supposedly these prompts have no character limit, but if I were to
start listing my favorite movies I am pretty sure I would hit that
non-existent limit before I was done. But if I had to limit my
choices to just three movies they would be:
Fight Club -
that movie is so much more than just about guys having bare-knuckle
fights.
Pulp Fiction
- Tarantino at his best.
WALL-E - the most
heart-warming movie of all time (eat your heart out Beauty and the
Beast).
Some other favorites:
-
Goodfellas
-
Shawshank Redemption
-
Office
Space
-
Three
Kings
-
Training
Day
-
12 Angry
Men
-
Clerks
Finishing of the category, my favorite directors/writers/producers
are:
-
Stanley
Kubrik
-
Christopher
Nolan
-
Quentin
Tarentino
-
Judd
Apatow
-
Charlie
Kaufman
-
The Coen
Brothers
Music:
When it comes to music I don't restrict myself to any genre or even
any particular artist. I judge each song individually. Some of my
favorites are:
-Living on a Prayer (
Bon Jovi)
-In the End (
Linkin Park)
-Orinoco Flow (
Enya)
-Dead and Gone (
T.I.)
-Top Gun Anthem
-Many more...
Television:
When it comes to shows that are still on TV or have been recently,
my favorite shows are
Lost (hands down favorite),
House,
Dexter,
The Office,
Entourage,
South Park and
Battlestar Galactica (the
new one). Also I liked the first season of
Heroes, but subsequent seasons have been
mediocre at best.
CSI
is a fun show as well.
I like late night comedy as well, shows like
SNL,
The Daily Show,
Colbert Report,
Chelsea
Lately,
Conan O'Brian and
Craig
Ferguson.
Older show I like include
Seinfeld,
Sex and the City, and older
episodes of
Law
and Order,
The Simpsons and
Family Guy.
Food:
Italian and Tex-Mex are my favorite types of food. In particular
fajitas is my favorite dish of all time. I also like sushi, pizza
(who doesn't?) and Philly cheesesteaks.
The six things I could never do without
These are things I consider luxuries that I have grown very
accustomed to:
The Internet
- What on Earth did I do before I got a broadband connection?!? Oh
yeah, I was 15 years old and anything and everything amused
me.
College
Football - football is the best spectator sports of all time
IMO, and college football trumps the NFL because of the traditions,
pageantry and the fact that it is not a business (yeah, money is
involved big time in college football, but it is not the alpha and
omega like it is in the NFL). As a University of Florida alumnus my
team is the
Florida Gators and each year
between late August to early December my mood is dictated by how
the Gators did the previous Saturday.
Music - music
soothes the savage beast, or so they say. I'm no savage beast in
need of soothing, but I still love music.
Books - if I was the
only human being alive on Earth, books would be the only reason why
I would go insane in only six months, as opposed to the human
average of one week.
Coke - Coca Cola in particular. I am addicted to the stuff, and no
it's not a caffeine addiction - I tried living without Coke by
substituting it with coffee ... I lasted one week.
Cell Phone - can you imagine a life without your TiVo, GPS, MP3
player. I can, but I can't imagine a life without cell phones. They
are as essential nowadays as regular landlines were before them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything and everything. My brain is always going and my thoughts
often digress into wild tangents. In other words, "Life, the
Universe, and Everything."
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my friends, doing whatever...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
When I have a couple of drinks I turn into a completely different
person - so much so that my friends gave my drunken alter ego a
name. Sad thing is that sometimes I wish I could be more like that
alter ego of mine.
You should message me if
Let's be honest, men approach women, not the other way around
(couple of exceptions only prove the rule). That's the way it is in
real life and that's how it is here. It's a social norm that I wish
we could do away with, but we gotta deal with reality.
So I guess you should message me if anything in my profile catches
your eye, have similar interests that you would like to share, and
you want to break out of the mold.
