My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First thing, I'm only half-in London right now - contract work. The rest I'm in Norfolk (or Cambridge) - but I'm selling my self-build project this year (2014) and don't plan to stay in Norfolk (Ed - on sale right now!). Next move depends on chance and the auction market - but will be closer to London, if not in.

Hiya. Eco-builder, quirky-home, green-tech type (oh & fairly tall/lean/fit & crewcut). More impressed by what you've made, than by what you've bought. Happy to do friendly chat with any and all.

Corporate life (sucking on Satan's corporate cock, as the late, great Bill Hicks puts it) and I had a parting of the ways. Now much more into ecology/ecobuilding and creating my own lifestyle. Into artsy stuff/education/culture, into architecture & design - love the company of people that want a life beyond corporate/consumer/convention. Well educated and well aware that wonderfully bright people come from every background.

Also on fetlife as Republic_of_Dom.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I live on a building site. I've kind of grown used to being permanently coated in sawdust. I tell people it's a fabulous chapel conversion in the making, but some of them question the lack of walls and the potentially lethal drops. But hey, to me it's home.

Just as I was finishing this marvellous chapel conversion with my own hands - I had a fairly serious back injury. They're not nice. They're really, really not nice. And then - this is awful - I had to get a *job* and start earning some money to recover the losses from the stalled project.

Now back on my project full-time - finally, finally on the home straight - chapel will be finished this Summer. I'm starting to look around for the next project...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making stuff and fixing stuff.

My obsessions are power tools, latex, eco-building, architectural heritage, bdsm, and working with wood (I spent some time learning traditional wooden boatbuilding - and will do more when time allows). I have a huge collection of powertools (and handcuffs). Oh and then I discovered classic handtools on ebay - a man has to have his own adze y'know.

I aspire to living in a shack deep in the forest.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I know. But you'll have to find out ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Movies - A matter of life and death (David Niven, 1946), Terry Gilliam's Brazil (1985), The Long Good Friday (Bob Hoskins, 1980 - his *only* good film - but he did gangster with a rawness that Hollywood can't.). I always struggle to make time for the cinema.

Books - Stieg Larsson (Dragon Tattoo - vastly better than the films), Maria Lewycka (about mixed East European/British family life) - quite a bit of biography, especially Tony Benn. Have been re-reading quite a few classics - Goerge Orwell (1984, Animal Farm), To Kill a Mockingbird, (next) Cold Comfort Farm. I read a bit of history, and will (eventually) make time for the great diarists.

Free book about the ANC's struggles - http://www.anc.org.za/show.php?id=8106

Music - Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bjork, Bowie, Clash, Velvet Underground, Ian Dury, Roy Orbison, T. Rex, Fleet Foxes, Leonard Cohen, Gogol Bordello (but only live), Bonzo Dog Band/Neil Innes - but I wouldn't dream of inflicting my tastes on anyone else.

I'm a R4 listener, know all about Just a Minute (the current presenter is so good), ISIHAC, Mornington Crescent, "the lovely Samantha", and the Robert Mugabe tea-towels (I've just added 6 Music to my listening habits - I highly recommend a listen).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Laptop.
2. A large workshop filled with every quality tool ever invented.
3. A beaten-up old van.
4. Ebay.
5. Herbal tea.
6. The ability to count.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Well - what I *don't* think about - I have absolutely no idea who anyone "famous" (in the media sense) is, no idea what's happening in the soaps, no knowledge of reality tv, and no idea what's happening in sport.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
no different to the person I am at any other point in the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Ok - a serious bit here. I'm very strong on personal integrity. I think if you live with integrity in the easy times, then you're more likely to in difficult times. I feel that kindness is the greatest of all virtues, there's just not enough of it in the world.

Have you noticed there's no "what I'm looking for" section to fill in - just a few tick boxes?

So here's my own:
height unimportant
flexible about age
some kind of super-smart - doesn't have to be paper qualifications
unconventional - yes really - one that's not afraid to really live it
some passions and kinks of her own
fun and not too serious
individuality
artsy is nice
not credulous of mumbo-jumbo - religion, reiki, orbital mind-control laser conspiracy theories or operating thetans.
but open-minded nonetheless...

...and maybe some of the following apply:

I've aroused your curiosity.
You live in London. I'm an ex-Londoner and love what the city has to offer.

PS Anyone fancy doing the Trans-Siberia Railroad?
