I am sardonic, random, and empathic.

My Self-Summary

I could be a paradox or I could be a hypocrite. The difference is only in where I'm being perceived from

What I’m doing with my life

I'm trying to live it, but silly questions like this make me think way too much about how that's going. So now I'm trying to sell it on E-Bay

I’m really good at

Absolutely nothing practical. I'm a pretty good listener, and I have a knack for seeing to the heart of things. I'm told I'm perceptive and I am phenomenal at rationalizing anything and everything I'd rather not deal with.

The first things people usually notice about me

Feel free to let me know if you see me out and about.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I do love to read a lot. Mostly I read for my own entertainment and that means SciFi/Fantasty. My all time favorite Fantasy author is Mercedes Lackey. I also love Robert Jordan, Marion Zimmer Bradley (both of whom are sadly deceased), Terry Brooks, Terry Goodkind, Tanya Huff, Margaret Weis, Neil Gaiman etc. When I venture into non-fiction, my interests are anything and everything depending on my mood but one constant is Psycholoy. I'm particularly fascinated by Jung.
I like movies movies of course but I'm not much of a "movie buff." Some favorites include Total Eclipse, the Neverending Story, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Love Actually, Pans Labyrinth, The Hours...these are what first come to mind
I could not live without music although I have no aptitude for making it. The only genres that I detest are hardcore rap and death metal athough hip-hop is real hit-or-miss with me. I love folksy singer-songwriter and vaguely indie but more popish music, country, and classic rock. Some favorite, but by no means scratching the surface of my likes: Tori Amos, Over the Rhine, Better than Ezra, Rufus Wainwright, Melissa Ferrick, Melissa Etheridge, Dido, Brandi Carlile, Alison Krauss, Aimee Mann, Jason Mraz, Silver Sun Pickups, Jimmy Eat World

The six things I could never do without

1) Music-an absolute must. Regardless of whether I'm happy or sad, I need a soundtrack to my life.
2) Books- I don't read as much as I used to and that's unfortunate. But to not have the option to pick up a book to either stimulate my mind and thoughts, or just to get lost in for a while is horrifying
3) Good Friends- I could do without most of the casual acquaintances I have, but those loyal soul-mates I can cry, laugh, and just be my crazy self with, I could not. They'd better not go anywhere. I will hunt them down and it would not be pretty :-)
4) Dreams- I love to sleep. Some people think of this as lazy but I just think of it as getting in touch with me. My dreams are always incredibly long and vivid and without that constant dialogue with my deeper parts, I'd go real crazy. Besides, I quite simply enjoy sleeping. And sleeping. And maybe I'll sleep some more. I'm gonna go sleep on it.
5) Running water- Next to sleeping, showers and baths really are one of my favorite things in life. I am fascinated by ancient history and there are many aspects of the medieval times that I really wish I could see and live in. But I do NOT understand how they did without hot showers. Well really and indoor plumbing. There's nothing pretty about chamberpots.
6) Sarcasm- Need I elaborate?

On a typical Friday night I am

Well until recently, my Friday nights were almost always spent bartending, getting other people wasted out at the club. After five years of that, I'm a little over it and would like to have a few quiet weekends in, watching a movie, reading, or just spending time with a few close friends. This is not to say that I'm becoming a recluse or that I don't still love having some nights out drinking!
