My self-summary
I am a riddle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, stuffed
into a chicken, squeezed into a duck, and crammed into a turkey.

I am a master of languages. I speak English, Geek (native speaker), Jock (fluent), and Girl (intermediate).

I like random vignettes. I was the 3rd most ethical person in Waco, Texas. I lived in Seattle for 9 years and still don't drink coffee. I once went to sleep on a train and woke up on a boat.

I really enjoy the bizarre, surreal, and absurd. Anything that pushes boundaries, makes me go WTF, or challenges my worldview requires a second look, and if it's hooked up to a strong story, a striking image, a solid melody, or driving beat... well, then I'm hooked.

I savor intense discussions, wandering, getting lost up a mountain, silliness, hugs, and enjoying time being with good friends. Myers-Briggs says I am INTP, which seems about right, though I'm really ambiverted.

I am polyamorous. I've had fabulous relationships in a variety of configurations, but my preferred style is as a non-hierarchical polyamorist. I recommend Tristan Taormino's Opening Up as a good introduction, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I am Eclectic, Empathetic, and Alliterative
What I’m doing with my life
I've done a couple different things in past lives. I've worked at an online game startup, helped found a non-profit, interned for a Senator, spent a summer 150 feet away from Jeff Bezos, and labored most of my twenties for the Evil Empire before going back to grad school.

For my current job, all your data are belong to me
I’m really good at
Listening (and actually paying attention).
The first things people usually notice about me
Soccer legs (though I mostly just play Ultimate Frisbee now)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books : Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Letham, Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstadter, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, Women by Charles Bukowski, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson, anything by Neal Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Elmore Leonard.

Movies : Amélie, The Big Lebowski, Brick, Pan's Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Secretary, anything by Bruce Campbell, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or Studio Ghibli, any heist/con movie ever no matter how bad.

TV : Justified, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Community, The Daily Show, West Wing, Pushing Daisies (RIP), Firefly (RIP) and associated man-crush on Nathan Fillion

Music : Most music that I own tends toward the louder side, but I'm all over the place. Last ten on shuffle were Clutch, Elliot Smith, Bolt Thrower, Portishead, Tom Waits, Public Enemy, The Clash, Jurassic 5, Finntroll (Finnish Death Polka, a genre of one), and Concrete Blonde. I may or may not have skipped Madonna's "Vogue" when doing this experiment.

Food : Sushi, Thai, Mexican, and Pie (not Cake, the cake is a lie)

Board Games : Settlers of Catan (the gateway drug of games), Race for the Galaxy, Dominion, Agricola, Cards Against Humanity, Cribbage, Poker

Websites : Penny Arcade, Fangraphs, XKCD, Andrew Sullivan, FiveThirtyEight
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether people read this far down in profiles.

Obscure value systems.

The Future(tm).

Not a pink elephant.

Where my keys are.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a friend's house playing board games, a movie, a concert, the theater, or a Giants game. I like a good beer and conversation and seeing if I can find that magic intoxication level where I turn into Eddie Felson.

Ideally I'd be going out somewhere with you.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Occasionally during intimate moments I've hopped out of bed to grab my laptop so I could figure out how to tie a particular knot. I'm not sure if this speaks to kink or simply that I was never a boy scout (literally and otherwise). Note: you totally don't have to be into bondage as it isn't something I need, but only pure Vanilla gets boring after a while. What dynamics intrigue you?
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 24–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You know stuff(tm) about the Bay Area.

You own a board game I've never heard of.

Something resonated with you and you want to find out if we click. I enjoy all types of people, and while I like people I share some interests with, I really like people who can introduce me to new things. What can you teach me?
