My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm smart, fun and outgoing, I'm definitely a people person. I really enjoy cooking, and having friends over to hang out and eat the food I cook, which mostly involves grilling meat and veggies. I gain energy telling stories and spending time with other people. I love movies and reading, especially science fiction and fantasy. I try going rock climbing at the climbing gym often, and am pretty physically active (I've run five Tough Mudders and plan to do another next year, I ran an Urbanathalon last year). I love going dancing at raves and psy-trance parties. I'm just as thrilled discussing a live play I've just watched as I am dissecting a movie at the end of an outing with friends. I'm part of an awesome Burning Man collective and expect to be spending a fair bit of time in Oakland working on our art car this next year.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living it to the fullest and having fun doing so. :) I make games for a living and love it. It takes a lot of time at times, a lot of passion, and is incredibly intellectually and creatively engaging. Plus it is this awesome team effort with tons of moving parts that all need to come together into an aesthetically pleasing, technically sound, and player engaging whole. Seriously, I love doing this, I really do look forward to going to work everyday, which is pretty darn awesome.

On a more personal level, I really enjoy telling stories, I'm more of a verbal person in my personal expression, even though I love reading. Just spending time with friends and regaling them with tales from my life, and hearing theirs is a big part of what makes me happy. We're story-telling primates, telling tales to one another is almost as high up on our needs list as cuddling. Combining the two is even better which is why I'm happy to sit on the couch leaning against a friend and share my adventures since I've last talked to them.

So, spending my life making games, and connecting deeply with my friends. Seems like a good combo. Currently looking for somebody awesome with whom to share the adventure.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being a friend. Talking about my feelings, talking about my friends' feelings, analyzing, pondering and progressing. Massages, baking cookies (seriously, am willing to put my chocolate chip cookies against anybody's), grilling steaks, liquiding and other freeform dancing, conversation about random intellectual topics.

I'm getting better at rock climbing, currently working my way back in after some time off.
The first things people usually notice about me

Mentally, my intellect and engagement in life. Visually, my hair when it is brightly colored. Yes, I sometimes glow under blacklights.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Authors: Charles Stross, S.M. Stirling, C. J. Cherryh, Ramez Naam (Nexus and Crux are great!), Anne Leckie, Paolo Bacigalupi, etc.

Movies: Apollo 13, Big Trouble in Little China, Alien, Aliens, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Office Space, The Princess Bride, TRON, the Harry Potter series, Gattaca, Avatar (yes I liked it, mostly because it was visually stunning, by far the best 3D I've ever seen), Inception, Gravity (Space movie + Disaster movie = OMGYES), Guardians of the Galaxy and the overall progress of the Marvel movies, etc.

Music: Psy-trance, ambient and chill. Shpongle, Yggdrasil, Orbital, The Infinity Project, The Orb, DJ mixes, etc.

TV: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Bones, House, A Game of Thrones, Vampire Diaries (surprisingly fun), Archer, etc. (I don't have cable or a TV antenna, so I only end up watching stuff that my friends say is really good).

Food: Sushi, thai, malaysian, korean bbq, pho, steaks, real cane sugar based colas, homemade milkshakes, raspberries, bread, handmade pasta...

really all these lists can be huge, I love a lot of things. :) I can't decide if trying to go into depth here is good because then people can see corresponding likes, or bad since it just creates a wall of text that nobody can read, I go back and forth myself between reading them all and not on other people's answer to this section...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* My friends and family, I'm such a people person that while I appreciate time alone and make room for it in my life, I really need regular contact with the people who are important to me.
* Good music, and space to move. "it has a good beat and I can dance to it", bonus points if I am getting to dance to it with friends.
* Raw materials with which to cook delicious meals, and the aforementioned folks to share it with.
* Physical contact, back rubs, massages, the touch of a hand on an arm, snuggling on the couch or in bed. All the things that primates find bonding.
* Conversation, I like to talk, and think and share together.
* Engaging activity, it can be cerebral or physical, but I like to do things, I'm active both physically and mentally. This is part of why I like games so much, they are entirely about being engaging because if they fail, nobody plays them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My life and my goals, how I'm doing on achieving them, and what I need to do to make them happen. I'm very engaged in my life, most of my deep thought time revolves around the moments in which I find myself. I enjoy meaningful conversations about technology, economics, entertainment, music, social groupings and structure, you name it. If it is worth spending time thinking about it, I do. :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Getting together with friends for one of a variety of activities like: going out to a movie, having a delicious meal out at a nice restaurant, hanging out at somebody's home talking, going out dancing, rock climbing, gaming. I guess the unifying factor is that I am likely to be doing something social, I'm extroverted, so I love meeting people, talking with them, making connections, sharing activities.

For instance 3/4/14: I worked out with my housemate, did acroyoga for a couple hours with her and her acro friends after that, then indoor rock climbed. Then I went home and only ended up staying in because 1) I was exhausted and 2) the party my housemate and her boyfriend were going dancing out appeared to be sold out.

So instead I crashed on my bed and got a gazillion hours of sleep and woke up feeling pretty awesome.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I had "your" instead of "you're" in my "You should message me" section for a week and didn't even notice. Ick. And yes, people using the wrong word like that is one of my pet peeves.
You should message me if

You're looking for somebody to have fun with, somebody to go dancing with, a rock climbing or snowboarding buddy, a movie and dinner outing partner or you like board games. I like making new friends, and I'm hoping that one of the new friends I make ends up clicking with me romantically too.

I most want someone who is positive, outgoing, interesting to talk with, physically affectionate, open minded and a good adventuring partner.
