I am competent, lucky, and fond of sushi.
My Self-Summary
I think every single person on this site describes themselves as
"laid back and down to earth" Being laid back is the new: likes
long walks on the beach.
I'm 26, live and work in San Jose. I grew up here but only recently
moved back from Santa Cruz and want to return right away. The food,
the weather, the people, and the surf of
Santa Cruz are fantastic.
I'm not 50 pounds heavier than my profile pictures indicate so I
figure I've got to be ahead of the curve around here.
I love physical activity and I've dabbled in tons of sports over
the years:
swimming, surfing, hockey, jogging
(Yuck), cycling, snowboarding, weightlifting, tennis, wrestling,
and fly fishing. Swimming is the only thing that's been able to
consistently hold my interest over the years though. I do have the
basic training for just about any activity though!
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated with a BS from SJSU, and since then I've been working
in San Jose running a
group home for juvenile delinquents.
It's a demanding job with very long hours that is sometimes very
rewarding. Having a former resident stop by the house to shoot the
shit and tell you how well he's doing is amazing and fully makes up
for all the "We hate you!", "Why you gotta trip on every little
thing?", and "I don't give a FUCK" that I hear from grumpy
residents who want to leave.
I’m really good at
Baking a loaf of bread, swimming, juggling flaming chainsaws, my
job (Especially hunting for contraband!), sleeping through an air
raid, and puns
The first things people usually notice about me
A chin capable of cutting through a car wreck to free any trapped
passengers.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love to read. I like reading about history and food and really
enjoyed Guns Germs and Steel as well as The Omnivores Dilemma. I
know Steven King is pulp but I really enjoy most of his stuff. Niel
Gaiman is a ton of fun, but I wish he were more prolific. I
*thoroughly enjoyed Collen McCullough's Masters of
Rome series. After reading them I
found out that her other novels seem suspiciously like girl porn. I
kinda suspected something was up since the novels I read would
feature a hundred pages of dense political history and then
unexpectedly switch into a scene where senator Decimus is played by
Fabio.
I'm pretty easy to please with movies but I like older/guy movies a
lot like The Godfather, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Office
Space, Christopher Guest movies, and the ocassional dumb action
flick. Musicals are generally not my thing.
Due to a busted radio at work that only received two stations I
became really hooked on classic rock recently. Aerosmith, Guns and
Roses, ACDC, Queen, The Beatles, Journey, Tom Petty, The Rolling
Stones, George Thorogoodand and a million other bands that I can't
remember the name of. I used to not care for that music but it
really grew on me.
I like to cook and my training is three pronged. 1. Childhood
lessons and random tips from my ex-hippie Santa Cruz pro chef
father. 2.
Cooking
for my young criminal charges at work. 3. Making my own food where
the results have no setting between catastrophic and
delicious.
I adore
fish of all
kinds, mushrooms, red onions, and potatoes. My drinking is mostly
restricted to red wine and liquor. I'm also a little bit of a salt
snob, go sea or get out.
The six things I could never do without
1. Water, whether Im drinking it, bathing in it, swimming in it,
fishing in it, surfing on it, or boarding on it's less popular
cousin snow.
2. Altoids, I have a problem
3. Heat, Im wholly uncomfortable in the cold and love things hotter
than the average person
4. My iphone, I never thought I would become one of those cellphone
people but I love my little gadget when Im cut off from
civilization for 3.5 days a week.
5. Lists of six items, love em.
6. And YOU
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How do I get this kid to stop hurling fruit at the neighbors
houses?
How do I get this kid to stop snorting unidentified pills?
How do I get this kid to never breed?
On a typical Friday night I am
Well my Friday night is actually Wednesday morning thanks to my
bizzare schedule, a typical Wednesday may include
Going to a local bar for an end of shift drink with some coworkers.
While 11 AM Wednesday may not be the *hippest* social hour of the
week the hardcore regulars sure are friendly!
Go donate platelets at the Stanford Blood Center when their
recruiting agents catch me unaware. I don't really have a lot of
spare time or cash to donate but I've always got plenty of
blood.
Go to a local farmers market and grab some sweet local produce.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I enjoyed Jackass: The Movie, I'm not proud.
You should message me if
You can offer me a cool personal recipe, a new job, want to hear
some of my bizzare stories, are interested if the other people in
my pictures are single.
Or if you're just a cool person to talk to, which I have no doubt
you are you special flower you.
