My self-summary
It has become quite clear to me recently that I suffer from a severe inability to sell myself on paper. Every attempt to make myself look good just reads completely phony to me. Instead I write crap like the following:

I'm the kind of person who needs to learn about everything that interests me. I am also a man of many and varied interests. Consequently I have a great breadth of knowledge about the world, but no areas of great depth of expertise (but I'm getting there about coffee.) If one were unkind, this could be seen as dilettantism, but, as my own greatest defender, I see it as pragmatic generalism. To quote Robert Heinlein, "specialization is for insects."

I'm a geek, a gamer, a philosopher, a cook, a barista, an explorer, a mystic, a skeptic, a Discordian, a teller of jokes, stories, and questionable advice. I can probably eat spicier food than you, but I only eat every other day, so if you time it right, you win by default.

This is, apparently, the best I can manage, but I guaranty I'm more urbane and subtle in person.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in a wonderful committed non-monogamous relationship with my beautiful wife, I volunteer in the Center Camp Cafe at Burning Man, and I make amazeballs coffee for a living.
I’m really good at
Making coffee, retaining information, giving gifts, teaching people how to make coffee, TCBing, making it look easy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I just cut off my dreadlocks and beard, so I'd guess it's my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors: Thomas Pynchon, William Burroughs, Tom Robbins, Robert Anton Wilson, Phillip K Dick, Allan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neal Stephenson, Hunter Thompson, Warren Ellis, Hakim Bey

Filmmakers: Kubrick, Wells, Coppola, Scorsese, The Coen Brothers, Gilliam, Aronofsky, Kevin Smith, Tarantino, P.T. Anderson, Charlie Kaufman (I know, he's a screenwriter...) Mamet, Woody Allen

T.V.: Golden Age Simpsons, Archer, Futurama, Venture Brothers, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, The Wire, BSG, Dr. Who (I'm old school on this one, I used to tape the late night PBS broadcasts of the original run on my Betamax as a kid.)

Music: I like hip hop (mostly underground stuff,) jazz, electronica, a weird array of rock bands, and world music. I'm open to most any kind of music, but I find myself less motivated to immerse myself in it as I get older.

I like whole delicious foods of all sorts. I also love to cook.
The six things I could never do without
Love, art, coffee, conversation, conviviality, chaos
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The people around me, coffee, books I'm reading, epistemology, food, sex, intimacy, politics, the mystical experience.
On a typical Friday night I am
I have Fridays and Saturdays off for the first time since the 20th century, AND I'm living in an exciting new metropolitan area, so hopefully I'm going somewhere I've never been, with exciting people, to eat, drink, see a show or destroy something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
With my new short haircut, I suddenly feel like an adult.
