My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a 31 year old guy looking for a connection with someone, a good time, and maybe a little more. While I enjoy relationships and being with people, I am more interested in getting to know you and seeing where things go from there. I am completing my doctorate right now (about six months left) and this process is arduous and time consuming to say the least. I would prefer to start a relationship "in the moment", and worry about what the future holds after we have had time to get to know one another. The truth is I would go out of my way to include the right person in my life for the long-term.

While most people consider me a fairly logical, rational person those who get to know me know that there is a sensitive, caring side to me that only comes out once trust and respect have been established. I think those who know me well know that I am driven by a need and desire to help others, and to be a boon in other peoples lives, instead of a burden. I get along well with people who are somewhat open with their emotions and are willing to talk about them, instead of hiding them or covering up their thoughts.

I am a bit of a geek in many ways, as I love to game (in virtually every sense of the word, be it video games, board games, card games, and others), and work with and on computers. While I enjoy most sports, if there is a choice between watching a sports event on television or doing something with another person, I will always pick the later.

I am amiable, witty, and thoughtful
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently completed a graduate degree in clinical psychology and am working to get licensure, so that eats up most of my day to day activities. I work as a therapist at a medium-sized clinic, and while some of the work gets rather dreary (fucking paperwork...) I really enjoy working with the people.

Don't let the whole "psychologist" thing influence you, though, because I don't use my powers for evil, only good. I also write quite a bit, contribute by volunteering with the homeless, and judge debate for high school.

I have also started exercising more intensely and dieting in an attempt to change my Body Type from Overweight to something a bit more... pleasant. Exercise is a funny thing, in that I hate it until I am done with it for the day, and then I think it's the best thing ever. Yet, come the next day, I have to push hard to do it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have been told by many that I am an excellent friend, caring, compassionate, and loyal to a fault at times. I am a good writer and a bit of a wordsmith , and enjoy playing with language when the mood strikes me. I am resourceful, and am good at taking different perspectives and forming solutions and plans that others don't think of. Being a therapist by profession (at the moment), I also think of myself as a good listener and a good shoulder to cry on or yell at, depending on your preference. That being said, I work hard to not be a therapist when I am not being paid to, so know that all of that stuff goes in the closet (as best I can) when I am off duty. I am good with video games, computers, and all of that geeky stuff. I am also a very good cook.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This is a hard question, but I believe that people first notice my smile and my eyes. That's what I have been told. That I have a nice smile and that I have "kind" eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite work of fiction is American Gods] by Neil Gaiman, although I also am a fan of Stephen Donaldson, Max Brooks, Charles Stross, Neil Stephenson, H.P. Lovecraft, William Gibson and some Stephen King (Mainly the Dark Tower books).

I like a wide variety of movies, but some of my favorites of all time are The Big Lebowski, Aliens, Ghostbusters (both of them), The Crow, Army of Darkness, Evil Dead, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Red Dragon (and Silence of the Lambs, but not Hannibal), anything featuring zombies in their many permutations, Hot Fuzz, and the Fifth Element.

I enjoy television as well, but don't actively watch at scheduled times. I like The West Wing (and own all of the good seasons on DVD), Supernatural, Reaper, the X-Files, Millennium, the short-lived Drive, Firefly and Jericho, and The Simpsons.

My musical tastes tend towards ambient music such as Massive Attack, and Aphex Twin. I also really like Nine Inch Nails, Front Line Assembly, Muse, and The White Stripes.

I am a bit of a foodie, and like most cuisines, but prefer Asian food and cook it frequently. I am a proficient cook with French, Italian, Mexican and Central American, some Spanish, and most "American" fare. I love to eat sushi, but lack the ability to make it well.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I could never go without my glasses (literally, quite blind), a computer or some technological equivalent, a creative outlet such as writing, good books, good friends, and good food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about fantastic or unusual situations and the like. Essentially, day dreaming about different or imaginary situations. I also spend time thinking about some of the different aspects of society that are troubling to me and how to go about changing them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
rarely at home. Most Friday nights I spend out with friends, either playing some variety of game, going to a show, or some other social activity.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sight unseen, the most private thing that I am willing to admit is that I am fiercely protective of the people who are important to me, and can appear a bit reserved with those that I don't know well (or so I have been told). So, if you want to know more, you will just have to get to know me!
