I am eccentric, eclectic, and electric.
My Self-Summary
Wow... after changing this thing many times, you start to realize
just how difficult it can be to define somebody in a few
sentences.
I suppose you could say I'm a very unusual person. I love video
games, but I can't play them too much because I get overwhelmed. I
love literature, but I tend to only read genre fictions (scifi or
fantasy, though you'll catch me with different stuff from time to
time) or things written before 1980. I have no idea what passes for
modern anything, be it fashion or writing or, I can't think of a
third thing.... uhh... sundries.
I have a Warhammer 40k army, but I don't usually play. Hard to get
motivated. I do really enjoy painting and converting stuff,
though.
I work part time at an amazing store that sells amazing goods while
attending school. I have a few very close friends, and I'm
impressively loyal to them.
I love meeting new people, for friends or for more, but expect to
be offended at least twice by something I've said in the first
three minutes of talking to me.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently working as a supervisor in an awesome store while I
save
money to pay
next semester's tuition. I am also constantly on the look out for
parts to build the myriad of
inventions that flood out of my mind
and into my work space.
I also spend quite a bit of time building bizarre, motorized, LED
lit designs, assimilating all the information I can get my hands
on, and reading fun physics literature. I also read comic books
sometimes.
I also play quite a few video games, though I tend to drift more
towards old point and click adventure games than anything else. My
town in Animal Crossing: City Folk is called Innsmuth (Innsmouth
wouldn't fit) and my character is called Bronson. If this makes you
laugh, message me!
I’m really good at
I am talented in the fields of
writing,
electronics, and general
tinkering. I am also of
the rather arrogant opinion that I can fix pretty much anything. I
have a compassionate spirit that makes me a good confidant and
therapist, which is something I considered doing as a
profession.
I have also recently rediscovered my love of the sciences. I hope
to bring my math back up to my old standards, when I could do
calculus in my head. Right now I sometimes have trouble with
multiplying decimals in my head.
I am very good at teaching, and used to do it semi-professionally.
I intend to go back into teaching in the future.
The first things people usually notice about me
Aside from my size, as I am tall and broad shouldered, many notice
my delightfully upbeat personality and ability to randomly jump in
to any topic of conversation. I also walk with a limp at times, so
I often use a cane or walking stick when I am out on the town. I
have several of assorted varieties.
I am also told that I have a pleasant laugh and an incredibly
positive attitude. I learned years ago just how dangerous pessimism
can be so now i prefer to err on the side of awesome.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I read any books that come my way, but lately I have been drawn to
hard SciFi (such as William Gibson and Thomas M. Disch) and hard
contemporary fantasy (such as George R. R. Martin). I also have a
deep love for Terry Pratchett, but not in the sense you're thinking
of. That's just sick. I have also taken to reading many of texts
about skepticism (James Randi is my hero) and physics texts.
I loves horror films, classic science fiction, and
Mystery Science
Theater 3000.
Akira Kurosawa has a special
place in my heart, as does
John Ford and
Sergio Leone.
I will listen to any
music with a decent beat that doesn't
sound like clicks and whistles, but mostly I enjoy Bob Dylan,
Johnny Cash, most of the contemporary rock and "alternative" rock,
and some of the more bluesy country. To drop names, consider The
Hold Steady, The Can't See, Bob Dylan, Blackfield, Pokey LaFarge,
the Rumdrum Ramblers, the Monads, Rolling Stones, Harvey Danger,
Murder by Death, and so on. If I made a complete list I'd probably
crash the okCupid servers.
I enjoy food, and will eat most foods, though I still have many of
the odd food quirks of my youth. I make a mean mushroom bruschetta
and a meaner garlic bread. I was nearly killed by a horde of girls
for my toffee recipe, but was able to escape with my life.
The six things I could never do without
I would have a difficult time adjusting to life without:
Books
Friends
the
Internet
Family
Personal Projects
my
Chinchilla
But would not mind a lack of:
Cults who take advantage of others
People who touch me unexpectedly
People who make jokes about stealing/eating my chinchilla
People who believe in free energy, "anti-gravity", and the power of
the mind.
... and two other things I just can't think of right now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Death and ways to avoid it, ways to simplify scientific theory into
easily digestible blocks for the masses, sex, and branching
internal mental fictions from a variety of topics (which I feel
kind of awkward about mentioning).
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday used to be my gaming night, but it was moved to tuesday
night so as to work better with everyone's schedules. As a result,
my Friday nights are usually boring unless I decide to break out
the telescope.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I enjoy anime, but hide it well.
I read textbooks in the bathroom.
I cried when Fry's dog died.
Oh, and I can be really kinky.
You should message me if
You should message me if you want somebody fun to talk to, but not
if you need sound financial advice. I'm not that great at holding
on to my money.
