I'm Algerian/Lebanese. Highly politicised especially when it comes to Palestine, feminism, race issues, class issues, animal rights, LGBTQI rights, and general left wing politics. I'm very passionate about injustice and trying to fix it. Semi competent guitarist. Geeky gamer and comic book reader. Open and wanting to listen to different perspectives (I've been told I'm a very good listener).
I could say a lot more here but I'd like to leave some mystery for when we meet.
What I’m doing with my life
I was working on a PhD but left the program for several reasons. I teach philosophy at the moment and will apply to another PhD program in the future.
I’m really good at
Listening, that's what people tell me. Also, explaining stuff. I
like teaching and people seem to like being taught by me. It might
be a good time to say that I have taught in the past, both at
highschool and university level. I love teaching, I love sharing
information and getting to see how people react and what they do
with said information. It is also a great way of learning. Many of
my students have surprised me and taught me a lot.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not really sure. I was told I have a nice warm smile. Although
if I'm honest lately it's my massive beard. I'm pretty happy with
how big it got.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
It's impossible to put it all on here. When it comes to books I like fantasy/scifi. I also love conscious political and social writing, as well as philosophy more generally. When it comes to music, I'm sort of stuck in the 1990s, from grunge to metal to the hip hop of the 1990s, I like it all. I like tv shows that don't have a formula but that are telling a story with interesting characters, like the Wire, BattleStar Galactica, The Promise.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order, Twitter (my main source of news), music,
friends, my guitar(s), I hate to admit it but my phone, and coffee.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Injustice. I particularly think about Palestine a lot. It's the
issue that politicised me at a very young age, along with feminism,
and still remains at the top of my mind.
On a typical Friday night I am
I have Muay Thai on Friday nights. So I'm usually in my bed after showering and eating. Usually reading or watching something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sometimes go commando. It feels liberating and slightly naughty.
You should message me if
You like what you see. If you are looking for anything from a date
to a potential friendship. I'm trying to expand my horizon and meet
new interesting people. I'm likely to reply if you're not a
religious zealot, a racist, sexist, heterosexist, ableist arsehole.
Politics is clearly very important to me and if you don't think
that every person has a right to live a happy fulfilled life
regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual preference,
etc, then we're probably not going to have anything in common and
I'm definitely not going to like you.
