Not entirely sure what I’m doing here, but I’m here just the same. I’m a professional jazz musician with a master's degree, and a former academic. If you’re into the jazz scene here in New Orleans, you might recognize me, hence no face picture. I'd like to work in academia again someday, and feel it's best to keep some of my more...exotic proclivities under wraps. Employers can be very conservative about this stuff, trust me, I've been burned this way before. If you message me, I'll be happy to send you pics, or point you to where you can find some. Away from the horns, I enjoy talking about politics, health care, books, old movies and television. I read voraciously. I’ve lived various places, including abroad, and spent a large part of my youth touring the country playing music with big name acts. From strip joints to The Supremes, I’ve got a repertoire of stories from a rather adventurous life.

Back playing professionally full time after a few years teaching at colleges and universities. This can involve considerable travelling, so if we're chatting and I suddenly don't get back to you for a day or too, it's probably just a matter of spotty hotel wireless service.

I am very good at playing music and teaching. I was a professor for six years, and it was the most fullfilling 'day job' I've ever had. I hope to return to it some day.

A couple of Irish authors I read recently and liked but can't remember their names at the moment. Pulp mysteries by people like John Lescroart (I read that stuff like some people watch television). Musicology journals.

Music: John Coltrane, Nick Payton, Clyde Kerr Jr. (may he rest in peace) Charles Mingus, Dexter Gordon, James Brown, Buckwheat Zydeco, the Meters, Eddie Bo, Ike Quebec, Stanley Turrentine, Adonis Rose, Herlin Riley, Harold Battiste, Albert Collins, BB King, John Lee Hooker. Al Green, Bobby Womack, Johnny Adams, Alvin Battiste... I could go on forever here. I've been privileged to play with some of these people; life has been good to me that way.

More recently, I’ve discovered more kinky/dom tendencies about myself. Nothing radical, and the 'ceremonial' aspects don't much appeal to me (I look dumb in those leather hats). I'm just kind of...forceful lol.
