A
ballroom
dancing idealist who hoards books and likes stand up
comedy and spicy red wines
that are so heavy they need a crane to lift them.
Running around the political jungles of Whitehall (I'm a civil
servant) getting bitten while trying to keep my head in a world
that's clearly lost its own.
Ballroom and Latin American dancing (less so at salsa, ceroc and
rock'n'roll but can lead the basics), and playing my viola. (The
instrument, that is).
"What did they put in your cornflakes this morning?" - Normally
something to do with having more energy and enthusiasm for almost
anything.
Books, normally historical fiction or historical biography -
history in other
words. (You won't find "Brooklyn Beckham: My career" in my
collection. I've got through much of Philip Pullman's novels.
Historical writers who can turn history into a story are the ones
that interest me - personalities rather than a list of dates and
events.
TV: Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, documentaries - basically
anything funny or hard-hitting stuff. Not a soaps person.
Movies,
Life of
Brian continually amuses. Kingdom of Heaven and Life is
Beautiful are also ones that stand out. Ditto with Amélie because
when I watched it in 2002 it started off lots of random acts of
kindness from me at the time (as opposed to the example above
mentioned it and it seemed "ooh, I'm all into independent movies so
I'm cultured" sort of thing).
Music: Chillout and classical (Sibelius, the Strausses, Mozart,
Tchaikovsky) for the commute, otherwise a mixture of anything
dance-able to stuff from my old indie (Blur, Oasis, Lightning
Seeds) and disco days of the 1990s. There are also some shockers on
there too, the less of which said the better.
Food: I've yet to hear from someone who says: "Nice food?
Nah...don't like that. I'm not a food eater me. Don't like drinking
stuff neither." English pub lunches, Italian and Chinese are
normally my preferences, though am trying to broaden my horizons.
Food, shelter, warmth...oh...those things.
Oystercard

Ipod
Bike
Foxes Chocolate Crinkles
Cinammon Jelly Bellies
The last two explain the energy/sugar rushes. I'm a bit of a
choco-chompie.
...on a dance floor (one that involves dancing with a partner as
opposed to drunkenly swaying to very loud music), playing my viola
in an orchestra or eating pies - or chocolate biscuits...!
That would be telling...
