The client is a casually but cleanly dressed, Reubenesque bisexual polyamorous Jewish American woman who appears younger than her stated age of 33. She fidgets in her chair for the majority of the self-summary, switching between resting both feet on the base of the rolling chair while leaning slightly forward, resting one ankle on the knee of the other more traditionally positioned leg, or sitting in half-lotus. Her eyes shift focus between the screen and the keyboard as she types, her brow slightly furrowed as though squinting. When she speaks to others her eye contact is consistent which, along with the forward tilt of her body and the appropriately expressive variance of her facial expression, lends towards an impression of a warm and lively person. Her speech tends towards rapidity, especially when perceived to be excited or anxious, and she gestures with her hands as she speaks. Occasionally she seems to become unaware of her volume, becoming slightly louder until she realizes the difference in volume between herself and others, whereupon she quiets herself again.

The client's predominant mood is content or, as she expresses it, "all right," but her affect varies appropriately between joy, sadness, fear, anger and others as she speaks about different topics. When fatigued or self-protecting her affect loses variance, along with a shift to less pronounced facial expressions and lessened eye contact, as though she is too drained to maintain such an active demeanor. She reports mild dysphoria about certain aspects of her life, but none that seem unusual for the musing of a self-reported introspective, sensitive individual, a description which holds up in this self-summary.

While she has no speech impediment, her responses to questions may seem slightly circumstantial to some, but if given time to respond she will come around to the topic at hand; she reports, "It's just hard to give a real answer to something without telling the full story." She also reports occasional difficulty keeping track of her place in a sentence, a deficit in attention or executive processing which affects her circumstantiality. At times she will switch the order of words in a sentence or elsewise say something incorrectly, but the frequency is low enough to not be considered an active concern. Her speech is rich and colloquial, smattered with unique phrasings that, according to her, pepper the speech of many people in the group to which she reports belonging, that of "geek culture."

The client reports mild vision and hearing problems, the latter affected by a diagnosis of TMJ. While she sees well enough to pass a driver's exam without glasses and can read, she reports her visual acuity as lower than many, making recreational reading difficult. At times she will ask those speaking to her to repeat themselves, again more a matter of acuity and less a matter of overall hearing. She is oriented x 3 and is of moderately higher intelligence than average. Her capacity for concentration appears to be within typical ranges, but her memory functioning is lower than average. Her judgment seems average to higher than average, with a high degree of insight. She is overall bright, creative, warm and expressive, quite capable of empathy, whose primary concern is that she is more prone to feel taxed than she feels she ought to.

Currently working for what may be the single coolest company in the metro Boston area in the only capacity for which I think they'd hire me: administrative support. Working in the video game industry was, until recently, dreaming the impossible dream. Having managed that, I'm quite content with my previous decision to have left the field of Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

While it doesn't seem to have come together in quite the way I expected it to, I can honestly say that I feel more like an adult now than I have at any time in my life. The fact that I've managed this without sacrificing my individuality or quelled my quirky behavior makes me happier than I can suitably express.

Otherwise . . . I live in an apartment I enjoy with people I like. I have a wonderful group of friends and an engaging set of hobbies (mostly gaming, radio drama and other random geekery). There's always more I'd like to do, but I think that's true of most people I know.

The one thing I am working on is my health. I don't eat as well as I should, and am more sedentary than I ought to be, and it affects my well-being and weight. I'm working on it, but since exercise aggravates some of my health stuff (joints mostly) I'm taking it slowly.

Being cute and charming to a significant enough portion of the geek population that it's been mentioned to me repeatedly. Knowing myself very, VERY well. Getting inspired by things with the proper impetus. Inspiring others with that same impetus. "Thinking about stuff." Occasionally, being organized. I've been told I'm really good with something involving eye contact and active listening. Some people think I have a good singing voice when I'm warmed up.

I can't be completely certain, not being other people. I've had people tell me anything from: my exuberance, my genuineness, my intensity, my expressiveness, my willingness to be forthright, my enjoyment of life and other people, my playfulness / sensuality (in the literal sense of the word) and something about my eyes / the way I look at people.

Books - The increasingly misnamed Hitchhiker's Trilogy by Douglas Adams, A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle, the Griffin and Sabine trilogy by Nick Bantock, Ecstasia by Franchesca Lia Block, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell, and more that I can't think of right now. I really should finish Wicked.

Movies - I have certain genres I like, such as 80 Teen Flick (Beetlejuice - sort of, Heathers, Pump Up The Volume), Comedy (most Mel Brooks movies, movies with John Cusack), Fantasy / Horror (Bram Stoker's / Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, The Dark Crystal, the Harry Potter movies, Labyrinth), Prettily-Done Musical Movie (Chicago, Moulin Rouge), even the occasional romantic comedy (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). There are tons of movies I like, most of which haven't come up here. Ask me and I'll let you know.

Music - This is harder than movies. I like 80s Pop, New Wave, acapella, some folk, certain flavors of "goth," modern alternative, some musicals, parody, etc. In fact, I like almost anything other than country, rap and metal where there's just endless screaming, and even those styles have their exceptions. I have multiple CDs by: Tori Amos, Bedlam (local Irish group), Da Vinci's Notebook, Loreena McKennitt, Ludo, Sarah McLachlan, Moxy Fruvous, Nirvana, October Project, They Might be Giants and Weird Al.

Foods - Japanese, especially sushi. Well-done Chinese or Thai. Italian. French / Cambodian. Well-done American (something interesting!). Crepes. Indian or Ethiopian when I'm in the mood for it. Good food is good. And I love chocolate.

To get ludicrously Maslowian [HA!] as many people seem to have on this section: sustenance (air / water / food), shelter (housing / clothing), sleep, safety / stability, love and esteem. If you're asking what objects or object-like things I would be sorely sad to be without, however, I'd say: my computer, an Internet connection, my sunglasses (I'm quite photosensitive), my iPhone, my loved ones and my stuffed rabbit, Puppy.

. . . my life, the lives of my friends, and the role-playing games I'm in. Really, that's what fills nearly the whole of my thoughts. I spend a lot of time navel gazing, some of which is even written down in an online blogging forum. I know a whole lot of people and tend to wonder how Foo or Bar is doing at any point in time or what's been going on with them. And as my role-playing characters are to some degree a reflection of myself (in that I'm playing them at least), I contemplate them and their lives. I also think about my work when I'm working, and have been known to fantasize about various things pertaining to my real or role-played lives, with or without musical accompaniment.

I've also found myself thinking about my job a fair bit recently.

. . . spending time with friends, gaming, at a goth club, out at a geeky convention of some sort or sitting at home puttering on the Internet / playing video games / talking to my housemates, depending on what's going on or how tired I am. Or maybe I've headed for points unknown. It's hard to say; I can be pretty spontaneous.

. . . that I am up at past four in the morning writing this because I finally had the inspiration to do so.
