Warning: stuff below here may be boring.
Born and raised in the rural mountain country of Northern California, Trinity County. Parents were gold miners. I was home schooled until the age of 15, when I decided to try my last three years of secondary education at public high school. After graduating, I worked doing full-time manual labor for a year, saved some money, and used it to study Chinese full-time for a year at Dalian University of Technology in Northeastern China. After that I attended Pomona College in Claremont, from which I just graduated with a double major in Physics and Chinese. Now I'm working at a tech startup in San Jose, where we are developing a novel kind of atomic force microscope.
My primary hobbies:
-Martial Art: Major background is in Japanese Jujitsu, have dabbled in Taekwondo, Wushu, Capoiera, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
-Computer Games: In addition to playing games, I enjoy keeping up on industry news and discussions about larger issues.
-Acrobatics/Tricking: Combination of flips and acrobatic kicks.
My secondary hobbies:
-Dirt Biking
-Programming
-Table Tennis
-Tennis
-Projection: Own several projectors (though I'm working on repairing them right now); built two DIY projectors from scratch to create a stereo 3-d projection system.
-3-d Printing: built a RepRap style 3-d printer from scratch (still working on getting it to run well...)
-Juggling
-Fishing
-Drawing (haven't really been sketching since high school, though)
-I cook pretty much every day, so I suppose that counts too. Mostly basic Chinese and American dishes, but I'm starting to expand my repertoire.
