My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Definitely a human male person. Definitely. 6 ft in height. Lives in Ravenswood. Has a car, enjoys travel and LOVES TO LAUGH. I think that covers all the key points so you guys can just go straight to messaging me now, yeah?

(Bonus fun fact!! Not actually an asshole but it's hard not to sound like one on here.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
During the day, I manage a comic book store. It's cool as fuck; don't judge.

At night/other times I: write, play a little music, hang out with my dog, work with a local comedy group that's had a little success here and there. We actually just made a game that's gonna be in stores and stuff. That's pretty wild.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm pretty good at grammar but that's kind of a lame answer. I think I'm good at, like, befriending people, if that's a thing?

I feel like, if I were an X-Man, my power would be that I could listen to albums and tell you what the lead single would be without any prior knowledge. They'd call me "A-Side" & I would be at least as useful as Jubilee.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably my hair. Lots of people have asked if they can braid it (the answer is "no" like 99.9% of the time).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
(Sorry this is long; you can skip it if you want).

Books: I read a lot of comics and a lot of nonfiction. My favorite author in any medium is Grant Morrison - you gotta get on that All-Star Superman/Animal Man action. I also really love Chuck Klosterman; It's possible I'm sexually attracted to his brain (I guess the term for this is "sapiosexual"). Also, if the name James Roberts means anything to you (in the context of authors), you should probably message me now.

Movies: You would seriously be amazed - and possibly get angry - at the movies I haven't seen. In a pinch, though, I'd probably say my favorite is TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE. ("Favorite" doesn't mean I think it's the best movie ever... I just like it a ton). I also like things that people with taste like, I promise!

Shows: Here's what I try to keep current on - SNL, South Park, Brooklyn 99, Inside Amy Schumer, Portlandia, The Flash, Comedy Bang! Bang! (I love the podcast too), MCU shows on Netflix (Daredevil was incredible, can't wait for Jessica Jones).

Music: Springsteen is my spirit animal. In general I'm a rock guy, from classic to indie to hair metal (yeah, I know). Some particular acts I like a lot are the New Pornographers/Neko Case, They Might Be Giants, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, and Okkervil River.

Favorite records from this year (so far): the Decemberists, the Darkness, the Mountain Goats, Craig Finn, Ryan Adams' 1989 (holy shit it's so good).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I think I COULD do without a lot, though I certainly wouldn't want to. Here are some kind of unspecific answers:

-Something to write with.
-Something to write on.
-Something I can use to perform music (preferably guitar-shaped).
-Something I can use to play already-recorded music that I own.
-Friends... on blu ray.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Amazing jokes like that Friends thing you just read, what I should do with my next day off, the yin/yang relationship between Superman and Batman (it's deep!).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Fridays are my Thursdays, so probably nothing too terribly exciting, but that's up for discussion.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I play Magic: The Gathering sometimes. And I'm not also a billionaire hedge fund manager to balance that out. :( :( :( If you go out with me, promise you won't write an article on Gizmodo about it? (Google 'Jon Finkel OK Cupid' for a weird thing).
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Anything in the above profile has piqued your interest (especially if you want to talk about Springsteen, Grant Morrison, or Chuck Klosterman).

Or you want to (best reason to do anything).

About you: Well, I hate making universal declarations about anything. Everyone is different and that's great. But here are some basic cool qualities I appreciate in people: Generally positive disposition. Kindness. Confidence. Totally sick sense of humor (if you didn't laugh reading this profile, I may not be for you). Be into something(s)! It doesn't matter what. I just like hearing about your interests.
