My self-summary
I'm afraid I'm not feeling well right now. I am being deluged with messages and can't reply. THIS PROFILE IS NOW ON HIATUS. Thank you for your understanding.

I am seeking someone special, with whom to have a committed and monogamous romantic relationship. I've never had a real relationship before, so I am looking for a kind and caring gentleman who wouldn't mind courting me slowly and patiently, who will never try to pressure me into anything before I'm ready. I don't know if there's anyone like that out there... I hope so. I like to think that what I am offering them in the end is worth the wait. :)

Personality: I've been described as "vibrant, intelligent, humorous and sensitive" (I appreciate the compliment!). I have a strong conscience and live my life according to my ethical code. "Not many people got a code to live by anymore." (Kudos if you can name the film reference, hehe! It's an '80s cult punk rock movie.) I try to treat others as I would like to be treated, and expect the same from others. I admit I can sometimes be a bit uptight and straitlaced. But I love to laugh - I appreciate dry wit and irreverent, satirical humour. Sorry, I'm no good at keeping a straight face! ;D

I love to have fun. I'm a novelty-seeker with a natural sense of adventure. I'm passionate about the things I love, and curious about those of others if they pique my interest. I might be shy at first when I don't know someone, but eventually become relaxed and playful around people who are warm, kind and accepting of me.

Places I've been: Born in Japan, grew up in Toronto and Ottawa, I've also lived in the north of Japan and the north of England. I was studying Music Technology (sound recording and music production) in Manchester, but unfortunately it was not enough to get me into the music business, so I'm trying to think of something else to do for a living... I might have to settle for a retail job at HMV, but that wouldn't be so bad!

I am earnest, yet irreverent, and whimsical.
What I’m doing with my life
Due to health difficulties, I can't work a 9-to-5 type job so I'm currently on Disability. I'm feeling loads better now, so I'm applying for employment assistance, so I can find a part-time job.

I recently took a beginner's course in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I love messing about with pictures and photos!

I'm very interested in mixed media and altered art. I've been studying tutorials online, thinking of getting an art book or taking some workshops. I'm particularly interested in using/making rubber stamps, and making jewellery. What crafty stuff do you like to do? :)

Another wish is that I'd love to form a British music covers band! I can sing, play a bit of guitar and bass and keyboards. Who'd like to join me?
I’m really good at
- Quoting apropos film dialogue from my favourite movies.
- Singing snippets of songs to sum up a situation (ooh, alliteration!).
- Dancing to Britpop tunes.
- Singing Beatles harmonies, and learning songs by ear on various instruments (BTW I can sightread, I just have more ear talent than reading talent).
- Being kind and helping people (both friends and complete strangers - I'll be a Good Samaritan as long as it doesn't take too much out of me or put myself in danger).
- Doing crafty stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short (slightly taller than Kylie Minogue, and the same height as Lady Sovereign). A lot of people remark on my beautiful smile - awww. :) My outrageously hearty laugh - people turn their heads to stare because I'm laughing so hard at someone's joke! ;D

People are flabbergasted when they find out I've just turned 40, lol... Most people assume I'm in my mid-'20s. The secret to my eternal youth? I'm Japanese, what d'you expect! ;) Also, I act much younger than my age. In any case, I wear my <3 on my sleeve - WYSIWYG and all that!
Maybe I'm Miss Fitzhenry. I wasn't in your class. I was your teacher.

The six things I could never do without
Only six things?? Give over, mate - how 'bout six categories!

1. Brit stuff: British music, British films, British television, British popular culture.

2. Music stuff: Singing, guitar, keyboard or piano, bass guitar, mics, amps and other gear.

3. Intellectual stuff: English language and dialects, linguistics, word play, signs, symbols, semantics, Jungian psychology, evolutionary psychology, sociology, mythology, folklore, bio-evolutionary theories of human behaviour, schools of thought on feminism, power structures behind racism, how patriarchy created gender inequality (mostly for women, but for men as well), homophobia and transphobia, Aboriginal rights and Indigenous sovereignty, the privileges I grew up with.

4. 'Geeky' stuff: Html, Photoshop, ThinkGeek, deviantArt, Tumblr, fan art, fanvids, fanfiction, science, technology, Star Trek (mostly TNG and Voyager, but I ought to get more into The Original Series). The recent Trek 'reboot' films by J.J. Abrams are fantastic (the most recent one stars Benedict Cumberbatch from BBC Sherlock, as the villain!).

5. Anachronistic stuff: Victorian England and the fashions, culture and literature thereof, silent film, the Edwardian Era, the '20s and '30s, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Vaudeville shows, Burlesque shows and Carnivales, vintage costumes, and antique objects of curiosity. And let us not forget the late, great Sherlock Holmes (my favourite historical fictional character! Actually, sometimes I forget he's fictional, lol!). I also like playing with Tarot cards.

6. Social justice issues: Leaving the world a better place than how I found it (like the campsite rules!) is my main goal in life, y'know? I used to be involved in Amnesty International (the highlight was walking as the Amnesty Candle at Toronto's LGBT Pride Parade!). When I'm busy, I still like to sign and send off quick petition emails through organizations like, Equality Now, All Out, American Civil Liberties Association, Avaaz and Oceana. I wish I could make it to more rallies and such, but ever since the G20 crackdown (which I narrowly missed getting caught up in - I was planning to go but didn't), I'm kind of scared to go... Maybe if I had other people to go with?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
forming a band. Getting a part-time job (the sooner the better!). The next cool hobby/craft/skill to learn!
On a typical Friday night I am
dahncin'... down Streatham, on a bus. :) (Kudos if you get the musical reference!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is that I'm on Fetlife, and I'm a sub. I am seeking a gentleman Dom with experience. You must be familiar with SSC / RACK, GGG, and the Campsite / Tea & Sympathy Rules (It helps if you're a regular Savage Love Reader). You must be serious about issues of consent, contraception, STIs and safer sex(!), safety protocols, safewords / safe signals, and aftercare. You should be willing to take sexuality workshops with me (unless you're extremely experienced). When it comes to attraction, I am very, very picky (I don't like being that way, but I can't seem to change what I like). For safety reasons, I rarely reply to messages (here or on Fetlife), unless I am interested. I am only showing my Fetlife profile to individuals I am interested in, to determine compatibility. Please respect this.

If I rate you highly, it means I'm interested in you, but am perhaps too shy to say something yet...
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 30–40
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
- You are assertive (NOT passive/aggressive) and reasonably independent (NOT needy/clingy), and respect others' emotional and physical boundaries.
- You are totally cool with taking some time to get to know each other first, before anything physical happens, and that I am ultimately seeking a committed monogamous relationship.
- You have artistic sensibilities... an active interest in art, music, film, theatre, literature.
- You have a strong sense of right and wrong... hypocrisy and injustice bother you.
- You try at all times to be honest with yourself, and seek open and honest communication with people you care about.
- You have a keen sense of adventure... you love to meet new people, explore new places, try out new things.
- If you're in Toronto, you wish to meet and brainstorm on cool creative ideas, or collaborate on curious artistic projects! :)

Important: Please understand that I am very uncomfortable with people using slang like "that's gay" (unless you mean 'fabulous' or 'homoerotic') , "that's retarded" (I have friends who are intellectually disabled) , "I've been gypped" (hurtful to Gypsy/Romany people), or "I'm feeling so schizo today" (comparing scatterbrainedness to serious mental illness is not cool). Please don't contact me if you insist on using such derogatory slang, as they are offensive to me. Not enough people think about the responsible use of language... *sigh*
