My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Adventuring with friends and strangers is something I love, but I also work very hard as a student. I am one of those strange "learning for the sake of learning" people. That's right, you guessed it: I used to be homeschooled. And no, my family is not weirdly religious.

Until a few years ago, I traveled the country doing Renaissance Festivals in New York, Texas, and Arizona (my parents are glassblowers). In other words, most main stream cultural references will fly miles over my head but I'm as comfortable in a corset and seven petticoats as I am in a T-shirt and jeans. I will happily discuss the culture of art glass in America any day, but I have no idea who Kim Kardashian is (did I spell that right?).

My life doesn't fit well in an okcupid description box (as if anyone's does). So... a non-comprehensive, unordered list of random things I like:

cotton sheets
poetry
the middle seats at the theater: halfway up, halfway down, in the middle of the row.
dancing: anywhere, especially barefoot in the kitchen, often when there is no music playing that other people can hear.
having sex in unusual places
plants
people who are sincere.
sitting on rooftops to watch the sun rise and to paint.
food
to play piano when no one else is around.
making things with my hands.
skinny-dipping
silliness
writing
listening to music in the dark.
intimacy
spontaneous words and thoughts.
taking pictures after it has rained.
writing
listening to people
movies
to go walking at night, especially when it is warm and the moon is out.
working in flower gardens with the sun on my back.
good conversation.
books
to touch water.
being myself.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just transferred back to Smith from Cambridge University, and am finishing my senior year. Aka: Slowly retraining myself not to carry an umbrella everywhere and reintegrating "ya'll" into my vocabulary.

I'm an English major. I love sciences. I find almost everything interesting. You'd be equally likely to find me in: a bumper car, an art museum, a tree house, a Latin dance club, a very cozy armchair.

Future plans include a PhD in Contemporary American Poetry. Ideally a joint MFA/PhD (writing is and always has been what I want from life). Traveling traveling traveling. Always.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
writing. drawing. cooking. listening. I love giving massages--I couldn't picture myself going into nursing or med school, but I've always wanted to be able to heal in some respect. Massage is as close as I can get. Which sounds unbelievably corny, but there you have it.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
dreams, family, travel, love, writing, books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. Perhaps that comes with being a writer. Seeing evolutions, possibilities, each potential ending and beginning in my surroundings, is a normal head space for me. It's also not something I feel the need to talk about. Sometimes leaves look like feathers and sometimes leaves look like leaves. Often they look like both to me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
example:
To sin or not to sin. No, no, no, that’s not right. Focus, Jena. ‘Glotoun…pissed a potel in a pater-noster while,/And blew his rounde ruwet at his rigge-bon ende’. I wanted to study this. I did, I swear. Focus. No, more wine is NOT going to help.

Umm... with friends, out dancing, being quiet, being crazy, loving life.

I love the friends I have in the area. I also feel like there are great people around here I'd like to get to know now. Never spending more than six months in one place for most of your life makes you want to sit down with a stranger and talk about how Kurt Vonnegut thought mushrooms smelled like sperm, rather than have an awkward conversation about the weather. Alright, so maybe that's a bad example... you get the point? If you want to talk, send me a message. We don't have to discuss fungi.

Addendum: I don't generally reply to "how's it going?"/"what's up?", etc. If you genuinely want to know, that's great, just ask me a more specific question/tell me something random about yourself.
