Things I like:
Things I love:
Hard-boiled detective stories (Hammett, Chandler, etc)
I also dig science. Lately I've been on a little space kick. Blame the Curiosity, I guess. Do you know how long a light-year is? It's about 6 trillion miles. Our galaxy, one of hundreds of billions, is over 100,000 light-years in diameter. Most people have some sort of existential crisis when they find out how tiny we really are. Personally, I've found it liberating. We get a vanishingly small sphere of influence and a few brief moments in time to accomplish anything at all. Hence, all I really need to worry about is how I treat the people I encounter and how to be comfortable in my own skin.
Speaking of aliens and stuff, I've been watching "The Twilight Zone" on Netflix, and that show has held up remarkably well. The only thing that feels dated is all the heavy-handed allegories about Cold War paranoia where it turns out man is the true monster. A better twist would be while all the neighbors are turning on each other, they get eaten by actual space monsters. That would be awesome.
