Boring generic part: I'm hoping to meet a few people around the area to hang out and maybe have some adventures with. I like to camp, hike, cave (Are there any caves to explore in Southern California?), ski, continually tell myself that I'll get a SCUBA certification at some point, and participate in many things nerdy. I also like discovering interesting restaurants, which I haven't done much of lately.
I like to cook, as you might notice from the rest of this profile, especially ethnic cuisines I haven't tried before. I also like to bake bread and tend to bake a lot of sourdough. Probably because a sourdough starter is like a microbiology experiment that you can eat when you're bored with it.
I should warn you now that I'm a pretty big nerd (or geek depending on how you choose to define those terms). I like occasional PC gaming, astronomy, physics, paleontology, anthropology, biology, being socially awkward, and other nerdly/geeky pursuits. Sometimes when I have a problem to solve I conduct rigorous controlled experiments. OK, not rigorous. And only semi-controlled. And the sample size is small. I pretend that I'm gathering useful data from them, though.
I'm one of the approximately 12-15 people in the world who have no particular caring or affinity for any major sports team. Though I do understand why people can become so obsessive over sports. I think my brain just may be broken.
I also seem to enjoy parentheses.
