My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'd like to adore you; if I cannot or do not, we can both save time.
[Passion: check.
Window-shoppers: warned off.]

Unless you need a man to be economically dominant, I'm a catch, as are you. But I have my quirks, as do you. Live music, no thanks the crowds are a pain. Dancing, not so much. I do like a margarita. I don't like beer. Live comedy, sure. Movies. Books. Sunlight exhausts me, but I like to be physically active.
[Arrogance: revealed.
Idiosyncrasies: flagged.
TMI: skirted.]
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Plotting to overthrow the Internet? Strategizing more mundane career changes? Overindulging in laughter, reading, and diligence? It's in the wrist action.
[Vague allusion to hi-tech sensibilities: check.
Self-indulgent tendencies: forewarned.]

My job is... a necessity - not especially fulfilling but not something I dare lose. The people are nice, we do good work that hopefully makes this world a slightly better place, and I am underpaid. That may be fair, since I am also somewhat underemployed - but, sadly, not in terms of hours.
[Self-effacing professional self-assessment: check.]

I am neither successful nor unsuccessful: that means I would really rather save money towards my retirement and getting my two girls through college than spend it on trips, clothes, an impressive car or house, or "entertaining"... you.
[Sport-daters: problem solved.]
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cutting through misapprehensions. Generating a few along the way. I am an elephant.
[And my internal monologue is my trunk: whatever do I mean by that?
Well, if you don't know: I don't.]
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Not as tall as I seem? Maybe that's the second thing.
[Cocky? humble?
Quiet? brash?
Reserved? ingenuous?]

Gates of Fire by Pressfield for how to be a man or even a [SPOILER a-w-l-o-e-m-r-a-t-n]. The Once and Future King by White for nation-building, morality and ethics, and how to love. The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss for a great protagonist, premise, and story - can't wait for the third in the series. Guilty pleasures: Child, Sandford, White, Connelly, Crais.

The Lion King, yes, The Lion King aka Hamlet on the Veldt. The Challenge, perhaps Scott Glenn's least-seen movie. 48 Hours, the perfect movie. Anything with Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway, and Jodie Foster. I like Ashton Kutcher, Hugh Jackman, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt, too.

Can't wait for the latest seasons to hit Netflix of Homeland, Breaking Bad, Dexter, and of course best of breed: 30 Rock. Eager for the next seasons of Game of Thrones and The Newsroom. If only The West Wing were still on.

I'm an omnivore but not an omni-aur. If it comes from the ghetto - stop right there.

Me carnivore; tried veggie and couldn't do it. Not much I avoid except fried, pasta, soda.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, preferably fiction but biographies are great, too.
Computer games, preferably strategic and non-real-time. I used to play video games for a living, now I like to take my time.
Freedom from stupidity in others, especially those in authority.
(I would say freedom from stupidity in myself, too, but the jury's still out so that might be begging the question.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Figuring out things that mystified me in the past. Figuring out things that mystify me in the present, too, but there's fewer and fewer of those so I got that going for me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Maybe a movie, maybe a computer game, maybe working out. Or if I have my daughter who's still at home that weekend, maybe a movie, maybe eating out, maybe a boardgame or some TV reruns.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've had love - the real thing. It's not enough, but it is a necessity. Respect.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You are in shape and you want some intelligent company. Probably not if you're selfish, unintelligent, arrogant, or blonde (it's just a chemistry thing I've come to respect). And if you're (still) a Republican, only if you want to argue.
