My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well, I like good vibes, experimental music, eastern cultures, herbal tea, psychedelia, and not getting into physical altercations. I try to be as objective as possible in all things, and I do like to have a good time, although I'm kind of reserved and what I consider a good time often involves things that are kind of mellow, or music-related in some way at least. I'm thinking of starting to experiment with meditation soon, to help me sleep and to reach a greater state of relaxation. I'm a really nice guy, and a very flexible person. In fact, I might even be too flexible, because the staff robot on here keeps getting mad at me for marking all of the accepted answers to the match questions. Silly robot.

I like to laugh a lot, even when it's entirely inappropriate. I try to stay away from all kinds of conflict and confrontation, and when I can't stay away I resolve the matter with logic and civil discussion. Unless the confrontation happens to be with a mountain lion, in which case I resolve the situation by raising my jacket over my head to try to appear larger and more intimidating than I am.

I like goofy things, fantasy, science fiction, dry humor, puns, sitcoms, and of course music. I play a lot of music, and I research contemporary music a lot of the time as kind of a hobby. I'm not really an audiophile or a purist. I think there's merit to music in all eras, styles, cultures, and so forth. The main determining factor is whether or not it sounds good to my ears. I'll leave the academic arguing to the people without anything better to do.

I guess I should also talk about some things I dislike. I dislike when people say that I/they/we "need" to do something, instead of merely suggesting it. I dislike when people use song lyrics in place of descriptions of their mood. I dislike it when people intentionally do harmless things that a particular person has some sort of problem with just for the sake of getting under their skin. I dislike people who blindly follow, but I really dislike people who challenge everything and anything for no apparent reason other than for the sake of challenging it. I dislike it when people throw up gang signs, or whatever it's called. I dislike people who say "yeah-yuh," and who find it necessary to scream their assent every time somebody mentions liquor, drugs, dancing, or parties. I suppose those are the main ones.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Doing a lot of exploring at the moment. Soon (pending approval of a government grant thing) I'll be going to a place called the Computer Training Academy to get some certifications in the IT field, and from there I'd like to establish a career and see how things go from there.

I spend my free time researching music, playing in a few bands, doing do-it-yourself projects, working with computers, and doing odd jobs. With any luck, I'll be able to do one or all of those things to a greater degree in the future.

I'm also always trying to find out about the ways that people in other cultures or backgrounds live their lives, and try to incorporate the good things I find into my own philosophy. I love learning about things and learning about people.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening! I'm a rather quiet person sometimes, because I'm often observing and listening to the people and situations around me. I'm certainly of the "think before you do" camp. I like to analyze people for my own social education.

I like to think of myself as a decent musician. Not great, but decent. Same goes for cooking, solving problems on the fly, and being mildly witty in the most inappropriate situations for it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
People seem to like my hair. Some other people seem to like my beard. I count myself among both groups.

I really love anything strange, eccentric or experimental in the arts. My favorite musician is Frank Zappa. Beyond that I'm interested in experimental and free jazz, early industrial music, krautrock, psychedelic rock/space rock, stoner rock, the occasional doom metal, zeuhl, non-western folk music, ambient music, classical composers along the lines of Stravinsky, Ravel and Bartok, blues and boogie rock, and a host of other musical areas. I also really like the Monkees for some reason.

I like sitcoms a lot. My favorites are Frasier, Cheers, M*A*S*H* (even during the Alan Alda years, I'm a loony, I know), The Bob Newhart Show, That '70s Show and some others.

My tastes in film are similar to my tastes in music. I particularly like the films of David Lynch. Beyond experimental works though, David Wain and the Coen Brothers are probably my favorites. The Big Lebowski is probably my favorite movie.

But I also like Beavis and Butthead, and documentary type stuff.

I don't read as much in the way of fiction, but Jules Verne is a favorite of mine. Beyond that I like to read instructional and informational works, which I've usually got my eyes trained on.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Chamomile Tea
Frank Zappa
Space Rock
The Internet

Maybe anyway. I could probably get along okay without them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Anything and everything. My mind wanders for a large portion of any given day. I think about philosophy, artistic ideas, what I'm going to have for dinner, when the next Frank Zappa album will be released...Normal stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably sitting at the computer. I'll either be writing/recording a piece of music, chatting to some people I know, listening to an artist I haven't heard yet, reading about stuff. Yes, I'm that fascinating. Although I don't mind going out on Friday nights of course. I suppose that's what this website is for...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't really keep any secrets. To be honest I don't have many to begin with, so that makes it a little easier.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you'd like to meet someone who's got a deep interest in the arts, particularly the experimental arts, and particularly experimental music, and if you'd like a friend and/or partner to talk to about these sorts of things, or to even take part in them with. I love free-form artistic expression and it's always much more fun with like-minded people who are also having as much fun as I am. Be it music, visual art, performance art, or some sort of combination of them all. If you'd also like a friend/partner who's compassionate, logical, and a good listener, then we might get along nicely.
