What I’m doing with my life

Currently I drive for a trucking firm near Kearney, Nebraska. My main job is to haul freight up into Canada, where I seem to be most of the time these days. The money is good, but I'm ready for a change after eight years of cris crossing North America. In 2010 I am probably going into either journalism or law enforcement... I know, odd combination.

I have been taking a month or two a year off to sail my sailboat, which is currently in New Hampshire, but I'm selling her in favour of an overland road journey to Tierra Del Fuego, at the tip of South America. It's an adventure I've planned for the past 15 years.

I write a lot about life.. do travel narratives an the like.
So... I'll put my tricorne on, bow and say good evening.

I’m really good at

Driving. :) Well, it's my job... however in all seriousness, I can also dance, comfort a friend, and I do fairly well at Trivia.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I've lost a lot of weight.... these days anyway. I'm coming off of diet where I've so far lost 126 lbs (as of 7 Oct 09)... More to do, but I'm looking a lot better and my friends really have noticed. I feel a lot better too. The second thing is probably what I'm wearing... if I'm dressed in 18th century clothing as a goof. Then my eyes.. they're an odd shade of ocean blue.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I don't have a favourite author, per say, but I am currently reading a book called The Ragman's Memory by Archer Mayer. I enjoy books that are non fiction, such as The Long Walk and travel narratives.

Movies? Well I love a good comedy or work of suspense.

Music... I play a Fender Stratocaster and a Madiera A-6 accoustic. I like bands where people play their own instruments, it shows real talent. Other than that I like something from all genres.

Food. Well I've been low carb for the past 8 months... but my absolute favourite food is a good hot chicken vindaloo, which is a spicy Indian dish. Then probably cobb salads and bacon. :)
