My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a writer/reader. I like funny jokes and I don't like boring things.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a writer and I also teach writing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking! Spending money.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I am talking too much. That I am tall. That I generally have a beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I like so many different kinds of books. I love everything from Lydia Davis to Ray Bradbury. From Arthur Conan Doyle to Kelly Link. Raymond Carver to Mary Gaitskill. I write about books a lot so I read them a lot.

Movies: I get to review a lot of dork movies, but I don't love them all. Though I've noticed I've started liking more movies than I used to which I think is because I'm getting older.

TV: Mostly science fiction. But part of that is an occupational thing. I still like the show GIRLS too. I know I know.

Music: No! Don't ask me! I am no longer cool and no longer like cool music. The "cool" music I liked wasn't even all that cool ten years ago.

Update: I feel like I'm now into music which was cool five years ago.

Food: I like cheese quesadillas.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, sex. Wait. I have to list six things?

(A lot of people seem to answer this question with some kind of hyperbole about how special their friends are and how much they love their family. My family is a family, but it's certainly not great. My friends are just my stupid friends.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Writing. Time Travel. Robots.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having a drink with my dumb friends, likely talking about writing, reading, or people we all know.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a lot to deal with. I can be harsh inside my brain. I've done some taboo things in my life. (All legal!)

Sometimes I view my life has having a bunch of windows open at the same time. And I mean the windows on our computers, but also real ones, which you can look or leap out of. If you get that, then we should talk.
