I am a Bon Vivant, Brit Rock Groupie, and have Shake Appeal.
My Self-Summary
I'm a former actress, poetess/writer and aspiring rock musician
that loves music, dancing, acting, painting...basically anything
creative. I think I am like many people that work hard to try and
balance an "adult" sensible (whatever that is) life and my creative
heart. In other words: I still can trash hotel rooms like early-Led
Zeppelin but I will pay for the damages now.
I believe the main purposes of life are creating (in my case art),
learning and passion.
I like to think I bring something unexpected to the mix. At first
glance people may think "actress" equals high-maintenece show
pony--but I will have you know I strove to be a B-Movie high camp
movie queen (Think a female Ash from the Evil Dead movies) on film
and a fringe theater risk-taker on stage.
Though now I'm chasing the original dream. Which is just to rock
out with my...um...nothing...out, actually. My ideal band would
ideally be a weird glammy, garage-rock mess with dashes of punk and
British indie gems thrown in for measure. (A Stooges/New York
Dolls/T-Rex/Stone Roses/Placebo-ish thing.)
I don't want the mundane, the ordinary...artists are always
searching for something beautiful and wonderful in life, and I'm no
exception.
I've been told by all of my past guy friends and ex-boyfriends that
I'm the coolest f*cking girl they've ever met. I think it is the
music thing.
What I’m doing with my life
Creating art of various forms and mediums, cultivating new
experiences and friendships, LIVING. Making the women of SF more
beautiful.
Learning--I just keep taking classes, in every subject/discipline,
long after getting a degree. I take them not to get ahead
professionally but to grow as a PERSON. Maybe I'm just a secret,
closet nerd that loves school. (Laugh at me for saying that and
I'll beat you up and take your lunch money.)
Adjusting to the move back to San Francisco. Perhaps second time's
the charm?
Watching and laughing at movies with dialogues like this:
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know,
very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's
sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really.
It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".
I’m really good at
Writing, Dancing, picking that perfect music
compilation/outfit/party, making drinks, music, fashion. Knowing
who sang that song no one else knows; what is the name of that
rock/indie/punk band you just heard and music trivia in general.
Having a better record/CD/music collection than 99.9% of the
population. I can throw down some classical theater or cheesy
B-movie dialogue like no one's business.
The first things people usually notice about me
My light. My enthusiasm, humor, and "Spanish" eyes. The obvious
love for music and the rock and roll girl look. Well, there is a
feature I get complimented on--a lot--but I am not mentioning it
here. You'll have to meet me and see for yourself.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies: Rock and Roll High School, Cemetary Man, Eternal Sunshine
of the Spotless Mind, Run Lola Run, Princess & the Warrior (I
love Tom Twyker), Evil Dead series, This is Spinal Tap, Anchorman
(The quotes from that movie are priceless, you dirty pirate hookers
from Whore Island.) I am also partial to campy, humorous B-movie
horror flicks a la Killer Tongue and Cemetary Man.
Music: Oh, where to begin? We could be here for days if I wrote
every band I'm into. Some genres I love: Glam, Old School Punk,
Indie, Brit Pop, Brit Rock, Garage Rock, Stoner Rock, Rockabilly.
Basically, if it has guitars in it, I'll like it. Some of my
favorite bands at the moment: The Stooges, Placebo, Fugazi (I'm
originally from DC), NY Dolls, The Stone Roses, Marc Bolan/T.Rex,
Catherine Wheel, Maximo Park, The Sweet, Fu Manchu.
Books: White Oleander, Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung: The
Work of a Legendary Critic: Rock'N'Roll as Literature and
Literature as Rock 'N'Roll, Nerd Girl Rocks Paradise City,
chord/tab books, The People of Paper, Travel/Guide books, John
Donne's works
Food: Indian and Thai
TV: Flight of the Conchords, Forensic Files (science is damn cool),
Law and Order, Reno 911 ("We do NOT chloroform our friends,
Terry!")
The six things I could never do without
MUSIC, Art, my Guitars, my Journal, Passports (yeah, I'm a dual
citizen), and Friends. And laughter. (I know that makes seven--but
I'm not going to be Okcupid's Rule Bitch, am I?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music (and more importantly, sexy musicians), how to play one song
or another, TRAVEL, life, and love.
Why does listening to "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" make me instantly
happy?
How to travel around Europe with no money and my guitar. Will doing
that bring me closer to what I was meant to do and the person I was
meant to meet?
What is the deal with this site/OKCupid? It's like the high school
experience I never had but heard about--everyone I like isn't
feeling it and the ones I am not into, like me. Kinda annoying.
Perhaps Ok's cupid is blind? hmm...
On a typical Friday night I am
There is nothing typical about my Friday nights. Besides, I am not
the sort of person that wants to know what I'm doing 5 minutes from
now, much less on Friday night.
"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to
change them yourself."--Andy Warhol
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'd like to leave the country, for a month of Sundays, burn the
town where I was born. (If you know what song this is from, then we
should be friends.)
You should message me if
You know who you are and what you want. If you are self-confident,
sincere, loyal, and direct we will have a lot in common.
You need help warding off the inevitable mutant zombie
invasion.
If you happen to know Brian Molko, Jack White, Jonathan Rhys
Meyers, Curtis Stone, Bret McKenzie, or Jemaine Clement personally
and could let any of them know that I'm available.
You want to start a glam-garage rock band.
