I am: Happy, intelligent, fun-loving, easily amused, a hugger,
a woman who wants my Diet Coke in the morning, happy sleeping out under the stars or beneath a duvet in a nice hotel, fond of puns, a giver of good advice, and learning more about myself every day.

I'm starting anew, but retaining ties to the good things in my past. I've retired from a career in local government and am now completing my MA in Geomorphology. (You can ask me what the heck that is about if we chat!) I'm hoping to soon be teaching part-time and traveling whenever and wherever possible. Right now my "home base" (i.e. where my books & most of my other belongings are kept) is in Lone Pine, but when I'm in the LA area - which is about 1/2 of the time - I usually stay with a friend in Val Verde. I've realized that at this point in my life I want to be in the LA area, and plan on moving back full-time during Summer 2013.

Having a good time in almost any circumstance, participating in whatever is going on, getting up/showered/dressed quickly (a young friend refers to me as "locked and loaded"), packing light, meeting new people (some call it talking to strangers), making others laugh.

... LOVE books! Non-fiction is my usual preference, particularly anything related to earth science or evolutionary biology. My favorite fiction is of the "small village in England and someone is dead" mystery genre. And thanks to a book club to which I belong, I've recently read - and enjoyed - novels I'd never have considered otherwise.

...Rarely go to movies, but that's of a non-habit than a dislike of them.

... Like live theatre but find it prohibitively expensive.

... Enjoy most all types of music, especially that which makes me smile. Cowboy music is fun (Doo-Wah Riders, Riders in the Sky),
Big-band and 40s music reminds me of my parents, and if I can sing along, I will!

... Am both adventurous and picky about food: My favorite cuisines are Mexican, Thai, & Chinese; I won't eat - but will cook with - tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions.

Things I ought do & things I'd like to do; sometimes those are mutually inclusive, sometimes they're not. And I enjoy thinking about someone with whom to do those things...

There is no "typical" for me. I might be out to dinner with friends, I might be camping, I might be curled up with a good book, or I might be at home sorting through piles of accumulated paperwork.

That would depend on the circumstances, and this circumstance isn't at all appropriate.
