I like being around family and friends who can reflect deeply on the how the world works and also appreciate the clean air in in the mountains, the wash of waves on the shore, and an excellent meal. The world seems made for two (as in Symposium / Aristophanes - or at least that general idea), so here I am.

Conforming to select Boston young professional stereotypes. I work a fair amount; run marathons; hike; do math; have an enduring crush on Mother Nature; drink coffee and tea; cook; make faux-insightful remarks about beer, wine, and whisky; hang out with friends - sometimes out and sometimes in; live in the city now; occasionally travel out of the country; might move to the suburbs whenever I settle down; and would prefer to live in New England or the Pacific Northwest.

Not quite conforming to other Boston young professional stereotypes. I happily debate politics but am usually in the minority. I have always lived on the coasts but have roots in the mountain west. I have a mild streak of American nationalism at a time when that is viewed as uncouth. I like visiting the MFA but find it more fulfilling to sing in one of the city’s choral groups. I own nothing from Vineyard Vines. I think visiting NYC for a weekend is ok, but I’d rather go backpacking.

Working on fly fishing. Not good at it yet.

People are pretty sure I'm not Californian. But I am. It's just hidden a little bit by nine years in Boston.
