My self-summary
I like to bake bread, the science of which is more fascinating than it gets credit for. Knit sweaters, usually of the plain sort as I like to be able to read or talk while I knit. I can't be bothered with following detailed instructions since I'll invariably change something. Read interesting non-fiction, such as anything about a subject I am unfamiliar with. From the history of Poland to the development of the Linux kernel I enjoy reading about those things which involve systems or logistics particularly. Ride my bike/the bus/in friends' cars, make dirty jokes, check out guys, do the dishes, and sleep.

More about myself? I suppose I could tell you about how I dream of living in France for some time because I love to speak the very little French that I know.

When I was younger I would imagine that like in a movie if I were only picturesque enough the perfect man would enter the scene. Now I know that being picturesque has very little effect on who enters the scene, and more influence on how much time I spend getting ready in the morning. In short, I prefer sleeping in and eating breakfast.

I don't think flowers are romantic, unless they are my favourites. I think that I could never stand a relationship that does not have to endure fights now and again. Perfection is totally lacking, and I do not trust it at all. An average man who finds contentment is in many ways more remarkable than his "superiors".

I do not like a great many love songs, as they all seem to involve a great deal of co-dependency which I do not admire or aspire to in any manner whatsoever.

I am secretive, but rarely deceitful. I will only tell you as much as I trust you with and that is precious little at first but can be everything.

I enjoy wearing an apron, but not shoes.

Must love Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, and Billie Holiday and take all of me.

I am joie de vivre, passionately alive, and enthused

What I’m doing with my life
Heading back to school. Once more to the breach, etc. etc.

Working on my goal of learning everything.

Occasionally bemoaning my more-than-passing familiarity with Shakespeare. "Wherefore" means "why," alright? We do not ask where Romeo might be, but why he must be Romeo of the rival house. It makes a lot more sense in the context of Italy's turbulent and city-state filled past. Romeo and Juliet is really a precursor to The Godfather.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love off-the-wall non-fiction. I've finished reading A Concise History Of Poland. Because I don't know anything about Poland, that's why. I loved reading Stiff by Mary Roach. Just finished a book about the creation of infrastructure in English cities in the 16th/17th centuries as a response to how disgusting it is when several million people crowd into a tiny space with no waste management entities in place and right after that I read The Humble Little Condom, A History by Aine Collier.

Terry Pratchett is my favourite author. Period.

I like a thoughtful movie like Garden State, or a funny movie like The Big Lebowski, or a pretty movie like Moulin Rouge. Musicals like Colma: The Musical or Repo: The Genetic Opera are great, but so are Wicked, Spring Awakening, and Aida. MGM musicals are incredible displays of talent. Down With Love and other comedic romps through gender/sexuality are also appreciated.

Music of all sorts but there's at least one rule: No screaming, only singing.

I used to be the pickiest eater in my family which is why my mom was so surprised to find out that I like sushi, Thai, and Indian food.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work and knitting and the interesting things I've read today. Also usually thinking about what it means to be a part of the most populous species that doesn't fit under a microscope.

On a typical Friday night I am
Doing the last of the dishes and going to bed. I like waking up early.

Then sometimes bussing myself downtown to spend time with friends or staying up late to watch movies and make Taco Bell runs at 2 AM.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm completely open to talking with FTMs, genderqueer guys, cisgendered males, and other types of faggy, queer, un-binary, unusual men.

I chew my nails.
