I am Thoughtful, Chatty, and Affectionate.
My Self-Summary
Time to start this profile over from scratch! There is something
cathartic about deleting the entire contents of this box in order
to define yourself anew. I wholeheartedly suggest it.
What to say about me... I am first and foremost a father. I have
three lovely teenagers who defy conventional wisdom on teenagers;
they are wonderful.
I am a
lover. I am
wildly in love with my two girlfriends and we live together. I have
other friends and loved ones I see from time to time, and I often
meet new friends and lovelies. As a
polyamorous person, I believe in the
multiplicative value of love: The more you give and receive, the
more you have to give and receive.
I am a
thinker. I
run a blog with my girlfriends and brother at
http://cognitiveresurgence.com. I love to think, talk, debate,
solve, fail, and succeed. I'm as likely to read
Noam Chomsky as I am to read
William
F. Buckley.
I am a caretaker. I was recently told by one of my lovers that one
of the things I do best is to be there for people when they need
me. I spoil, I take care of, I love to see happiness in front of
me. I do not believe I have the ability to make anyone happy.
Rather, I believe focusing on creating an environment in which
someone can feel happy. :)
I'm a
geek. I've been
a geek all my life, and have worked in Information Technology and
Software Development for all of my career. I go to
Defcon,
PAX, and
Sakuracon every year. I love anime,
games, technology,
cool stuff, and hacking.
What I’m doing with my life
I run the IT department for a great green energy startup and love
my job. I have fun with my kids, play drums for the family band, go
out to froofy restaurants for drinks and dive bars for food. I
Tango, and dance to
EBM/Industrial every Saturday night at the
Mercury due to my reluctance to let go
of my gothiness. I play
video games, solve problems, and
enjoy every day.
I’m really good at
Gaming, parenting, kissing, making love, laughing, being the center
of attention, caring, loving, dancing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile a lot, laugh a lot, and that I seem to have an amazing
ability to gab on and on about any subject! Also, people notice
that I have some sort of non-white ethnicity, but they have a hard
time telling. My favorite is when they guess Persian...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books - Dune series, especially God Emperor of Dune, Hitchhiker's
Guide series, Dragonlance, Anne Rice's Vampire novels, Star of the
Guardians, Fight Club, A People's History of the United States,
Lord of the Ring, Barbarians at the Gate, Neuromancer, Tom Clancy's
Jack Ryan books, Snowcrash, The Smartest Guys in the Room, lots of
Science Fiction, Fantasy, History, and modern business books.
Movies - Anything from PTA, especially Magnolia, Blade Runner, The
Notebook, Before Sunset and Before Sunrise, Braveheart, A Bridge
Too Far, Saw, Alien, all the Christopher Guest movies, especially
Best in Show, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Monty Python
movies, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Spiderman, Transformers, Moulin
Rouge, Velvet Goldmine, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Donnie Darko,
Clerks, Heathers, many, many others.
Music - Marilyn Manson, U2, The Blow, NIN, Daniel Amos, Portishead,
Eminem, Smashing Pumpkins, Wolfsheim, Rammstein, VNV Nation,
Metallica, Hole, Nirvana, Orange Range - most genres besides
country western, but especially industrial, j-pop, and stuff I can
dance to.
On a related note, I'm a serious sucker for theater and musicals. I
loved Les Miserables, The Scarlet Pimpernel (saw it open on
Broadway!) Rocky Horror Show, and a few others. I listen to
soundtracks over and over again, like the aforementioned shows, and
loved Madonna's version of Evita. I have watched Fiddler on the
Roof and Mary Poppins more than 10 times each, and I own the Sound
of Music. Trying to get the kids to watch these is a sad experience
for me. :( I did finally get them into the Sound of Music and now
we all sing along to the karaoke option when we watch it. How
sickly sweet... At least my daughter and I are both likely to be
wearing skulls when we sing along to My Favorite Things...
Food - *grumble* I hate food. Rather, I hate having to eat food,
but I suppose I love going out to get food with the right lovely
company. :) It's right up there with sleeping on my list of
favorite things to waste precious time on. I guess if I HAVE to eat
something, I like Ethiopian (Queen Sheba on Capitol Hill is yum),
Mexican, Bar food, Steak and potatoes, especially the baked potato
at El Gaucho's. Just tell 'em to "make it like soup" and it's
heavenly.
The six things I could never do without
My daughters, the Internet, a Computer, Games, Love, Laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm pretty introspective and relentlessly self-improving, so I
often think about how I came to be how I am today, and how to be a
better man tomorrow.
I also randomly think of solutions to problems at odd times, like
in the shower, discussing politics, sleeping, etc. It's a fun
trait.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm playing drums with my brothers and sisters! If I'm not doing
that, I'm out with a lovely woman I met recently. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I could probably eat cereal for all three meals for an extended
period of time.
You should message me if
you'd like to have fun from time to time with someone devoted to
having fun with you from time to time. Especially if you'd like to
discuss political philosophy or technology or geekiness or sex or
any other of many random things.
I'm a pretty busy person, and generally only have two nights free a
week, so you would have to be able to handle a lower frequency than
the every night variety.
You have to either be
poly, or someone who is okay with me being
poly and can handle my general unavailability (see above.)
If you just want to say hi and have someone say hi back. :)
