The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I honestly could live without most things, all I really need are the basic necessities and something to keep my mind busy. I'm not a very materialistic person, ideas and experiences are far more valuable to me than any luxuries or symbols of status.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Humankind's place in the universe, the innate strengths and weaknesses of the human condition, the effects of nature versus nurture, the apparent absurdity of dreams, our relationship with the natural world and other animals, the artificial nature of the modern world, the future of our global economic system, scientific discovery and innovation, the nature of the world's religions and the importance of myth in human life, the history of philosophy and the philosophy of history.

I also love coming up with new aphorisms to express my thoughts and to contemplate my everyday follies and struggles and to articulate some personal ruminations. Here's a list of aphorisms I've recently come up with, I'll continue to add more just for fun:

To laugh at oneself is to defy an oppressive delusion.
We desire things we don't need, and we fear things we do need.
The greatest bliss is to be found by focusing within oneself.
Asking a psychiatrist to heal you is like asking a prostitute to love you.
The more you know about yourself, the more you know about others.
The voice within is a source of anguish, what's hard is trying to make it keep quiet.
Only a fool equates intelligence with wisdom, and pleasure with the good.
To question beauty is to wander in a dark void.
Living a good life is like creating good art; it should be practical, not theoretical.
We suffer because we want things we don't have and we're afraid to lose them once we do have them.
No one can escape the reality that nothing lasts, realizing this is both dissatisfying and liberating.
The richest are those who can enjoy a simple life, only the truly poor need an expensive lifestyle.
Procrastination is caused by a lack of mental resiliency.
The best way to become obsessed with something is by trying not to become obsessed with something.
The most valuable things in life are your time and attention, it's best not to waste them.
If everyone asked themselves *what* they were instead of *who* they were, we would already have world peace.
What you will think next is as unpredictable to you as what someone else will say next.
Our craving for order often only leads to further disorder.
Doubt is the only path to truth.
If the truth exists, it is bound to be nonhuman.
Virtue is a sublimation of vice; without the inhibition of vice, there can be no cultivation of virtue.
The fear of uncertainty is best remedied with patience.
Humility is an ever present refuge from humiliation.
Clinging to your past is like trying to constantly recollect the fragments of long forgotten dreams.
We may believe that we govern our own lives freely and rationally, but often our lives are governed by passion and delusion.
The imagination is most vivid and creative when it is allowed to take its own course.
Our fears are often like glass walls, we may be able to see through them but we find it difficult to shatter and move past them.
Reason without doubt is deluded, doubt without reason is blind.
Only critical thought can illuminate the dark labyrinth of madness, delusion, and ignorance.
In the absence of the personal narratives we invent for ourselves, our hopes and fears would simply vanish amidst the ephemeral chaos of our minds.
Our lives are ultimately directed by the power of suggestion rather than calculation.
The proud would rather be hated than pitied and the humble would rather pity than be pitied.
Human life is more of a process of discovery than a series of choices.
For every one thing that is remembered, there are a thousand things forgotten.
