My self-summary
Hi, my name is Stijn (forget about the stupid nickname which I can't change unless I pay for it). I would say I'm rather open minded, easy going, honnest, quite shy (when you first meet me) and I like to have a laugh with people, so don't be too serious about yourself with me.
Also I'm a scientist and without being all too arrogant, also a lefty intellectual and environmentalist. No I don't see this as an insult or anything, I'm proud of this!

If I still have your interessant after all of this, then do read on ...
What I’m doing with my life
I went to New Zealand to basicly take some time and think things over, where I was going to go with my life. I must say I liked the backpacking way of life, but it isn't everything.

So here I am studying again, trying to go for something I now realise I actually wanted to do for a long time. I'm studying climatology, because it really interests me and I think of it as something that really matters. So yes sorry, I'm really serious about climate change and all, and if you think differently, I will convince you otherwise ... :)

Later in my life I do still want to travel alot, maybe backpacking again, but we'll see. And it's quite possible I end up somewhere far away, just somewhere interesting. That may tell you something about what I think of my own country ... :)
I’m really good at
Listening and talking things over with people. If I can spend the time to have a good conversation with someone interesting, I will! I have been known to loose track of the time and end up finally very hungry after hours of interesting conversations. That being said, this might not be how you will first get to know me. Just read on ...
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually one of the more quiet guys, especially around people I don't know very well. But people who know me very well I think would say that I'm someone who is nice to be around and someone you can count on. At least that is the impression I get from them :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Important things first: food! I generally like the mediterranean types of food (Spanish, Italian, ...). But also Mexican, Asian ... I also try to cook most of this and I'm really getting better at it recently.

About books, I often read books and I'm just trying out alot to see what is really interesting. I found The Hobbit the best book so far for me, although I generally don't read too much fantasy novels. Stephen King also worked for me and occasionally some travel stories will get me in an atmosphere of wanting to leave (so I should try to avoid them at the moment :) ). Occasionaly there will also be a more serious book like "The selfish gene" of Richard Dawkins, a brilliant man.

I used to watch alot of movies, and I do love some very much, but lately hmm, maybe I've become a bit saturated? But if it is a very good movie, I'm still up for it. Oh some of the very good ones are Into the wild, The Truman Show and Big Fish. As for series, some good British humor always works and occasionaly a great drama series. Borgen now has me completely hooked, I like the mix of politics and personal lives.

Hmm music, I like quite a bit of different styles, generally almost everything on studio brussel is worth listening too. Concerts of Soulwax are still the best way of having fun! Then there is also MGMT, Gotye and so many more. I'm also still expecting a lot from the first album of Float Fall that should be released soon, I hope.
The six things I could never do without
I basicly can do without a lot, I don't need all luxury. I mostly need my freedom, to be able to do what I want to do!

I am not living in the stone age though, I do need my laptop. It's my window of knowing what's going on in the world, much more so than the tv.

Occasionaly I feel the need to go out and travel, see new places. Did I already mention my thought on good old Belgium? Well the mentality also generally seems to be stuck somewhere in the ancient times ...

My family is always a safe place to come back too, I know they will always support me. I still can do without for some time, although then I always stay in contact.

Cooking, sometimes it's nice to be able to cook something you really want to eat. So sometimes I'm trying things out and see what works.
On a typical Friday night I am
Right now not doing much, because then I'm coming home from Leuven. And generally nights out there are much more fun than at home. Gent with a good friend who moved there is also great.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The little kid in me totaly adores themeparks and I can be a little geek about it. Only a little though, I prefer going over talking about it. Though some peope I think just don't know what they are missing ...
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You like what you read and can find yourself in that picture. I don't really want to waste time with people who aren't that open minded. It would be difficult for me to be friends with people who aren't.
So just show me you have personality and are up for something, then maybe you will do ok :)
