My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm rethinking my approach to this profile and summary. I'm here in search of someone compatible with my lifestyle. I'm a doctoral candidate looking for someone who will read with me, write with me, and has a genuine interest in pursuing a life of the mind.

I must say though that looking at the profiles of some of the women on here really has me thinking. It's both awesomely entertaining and deeply troubling at the same time. How do people get on here looking for a companion with such closed minds. Why would you lug all of your baggage here and post it on your profile expecting someone to want to take that on? I think it's laughable that a person would come here looking for a mildly-employed, narcissistic racist who shares the same corny interests as them. I guess you have to be positive and applaud them for their honesty and transparency.

Anyway, (as you may have noticed) I tend to be a little critical. That's not to be confused with negative. I'm a good person to get to know, a great conversationalist, and I believe that listening to others is a lost art. Above all, I'm a handsome, smart, and a standup guy. You don't have to take my word for it, follow me on twitter: @Dr_Detroitred or send me an email to say hello so that I may have the opportunity to show you.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a graduate student at the University of Illinois. In my spare time raising a "spirited" little pitbull puppy, and working on improving my brand. The rebranding process, I think, is the most difficult of the three - but it's a necessary evil.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
A little bit of everything. Although, I excel at: dodgeball, internet piracy, country line-dancing, operating my new toaster oven, and the brazilian art of capoeira.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm awesome....and modest (obviously).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
This will take far too long to fill out. I like novels by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez. Movies that list Ray Winstone or Gary Oldman amongst its cast. Music that isn't country. And my favorite meals are usually uncomplicated and accompanied by a bottle of red wine.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Keeping my list completely focused on "things":
1. Whiskey***
2. a glass
3. a cigar or pipe filled w/ tobacco
4. a Lighter
5. a good iTunes playlist
6. a crisp Detroit Tigers baseball cap
*** & a designated driver on those days I can't get past items # 1 & 2.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
obviously, things other than selling myself through a series of short essays on a dating website. However, I plan to devote an amount of time slightly more appropriate for doing so in the near future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably doing the same thing I did on Thursday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I admit nothing.
