My self-summary
I'm easy-going about most things. I enjoy laughing and having fun, as well as spending time with family and friends . My interests are varied and eclectic: science, literature, philosophy, art, music, dancing, cultural/multicultural events, foreign movies...movies in general. Wish I could name a few examples but there are too many to choose from. Overall, I'm definitely open to new experiences.

My friends would describe me as cool but quirky; I guess you’d have to be around me to know what that means. I'm grateful for the opportunities and learning experiences I've had thus far; I truly enjoy my work and helping others.
What I’m doing with my life
I have one year left in post doc specialty training. I'm often swimming in the deep end of the ocean, metaphorically speaking...
I’m really good at
I’ve been told that I’m pretty likeable and trustworthy. I think I’m a very good friend, and value trust, authenticity, compassion, and loyalty.
The first things people usually notice about me
People have often commented on my voice and manner of speaking, I think the term "unique" has come up more than once, though I'm not exactly sure what they mean by this.

I’ve been told a few other things, and not all of these are consistent: I seem friendly, but can come across as being a little shy, at times. I've been told I'm funny, but it's (usually) unintentional.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I will have to give a random sampling of books and movies, because I'm having some difficulty narrowing down my interests :)

The classics in American and English lit, Shakespeare, EB White. Also Dr Seuss, Isabel Allende, Anais Nin, Hofstader, Milan Kundera, Tolkien (books and movies).

Music: Range from classic rock to modern indie and alternative. Some random selections include, Radio Boxer, Phoenix, Fatboy Slim, REM, DMB, Pink Floyd, The Clash, the Cure, The Smiths, Counting Crows, The Killers, Radiohead, Alanis, Tori Amos, Coldplay, the list goes on.... Also, enjoy listening to a variety of classical music while studying, reading, or writing papers.

Movies…where do I begin? Really enjoy the classics: most movies with Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant.
Really loved the Fisher King, Life is Beautiful;
Sci Fi/Fantasy: Star Wars (ALL of them), Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter :);
Chick flicks: Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally;
Most by Alan Ball, Tarentino (this is off the top of my head, will be adding to this list as I go along)

My food preferences are also pretty varied. I LOVE chocolate and desserts! also breads and pastries. There's not much that I won't try. I suspect I'll become a vegetarian some day, but not yet.
The six things I could never do without
Definitely phone (including music/ipod), computer--internet, friends, love/intimacy, laughter, coffee & chocolate :) (would they count as 1??)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
WOW! a better question would be "what don't I think about?" To name a few things: Animals! Their being, consciousness, natural state; I believe Kundera once said “Dogs [animals] are our link to paradise"…I think he might be onto something. Also think about parallel universes, alternate realities, alterity and its implications, what technological advances will be made that we will never get to see in our lifetimes, how civilization will evolve, assuming we don’t manage to annihilate ourselves first; how to make the world better, one moment at a time; what lies beyond... I’m always attempting to consider alternative solutions and explanations, looking beyond the immediate, probing deeper, in an effort to gain a multidimensional perspective. In short, Socrates said it best: "I only know that I know nothing".
On a typical Friday night I am
Parties, art exhibits, festivals, live music, clubs or local bars (happy hour), movies, restaurants, generally out with friends, but can just as easily stay home watching movies or reading if I need to recharge.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm ambidextrous (I'm referring to brain organization/handedness).
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 35–45
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
I’m pretty open. I’ve found that there are lots of reasons why people get along that cannot be accounted for in a public profile (and I think that's a good thing ;)). I think of these as the “X factors”, it often involves ineffable qualities, it’s like glimpses into our humanity...soul. The basic way we feel when we’re with someone. It’s cool, really, how unexpected it can be when we’re drawn to someone. That said, I tend to gravitate to people whose basic energy is calm, no pretense, genuine, sincere, sexy, real, and atypical/unusual.

Being on a dating site is relatively new for me (I joined last year and have met some pretty cool people). I meet guys all the time in my daily life, but decided to try this in hopes of meeting people of substance. I'm not concerned about worldly stuff; I'm attracted to who someone is, what he's passionate about, and how we connect.
