My self-summary Propose an edit

What I want to do right now is to enjoy my independence and to enjoy all the events, concerts and crazy people London has on offer. I'm a french horn playing transplant from the USA, living in North London. I'm coming to the end of working on my Master's at the Royal Academy of Music. I'm a New Englander, grew up in Maine (no laughing, I love that state!) Let's see, I'm addicted to books, movies, ballroom dancing, and of course music (all types) and wine. I especially love going out with friends for a drink, hilarity usually ensues. I used to be very shy, not that you'd be able to tell now.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Trying to complete my Master's project, being social, practicing less than I ought to, going to as many concerts I can while trying to pay my rent. It's all very exciting.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

well playing the horn, I hope...and listening, mediating, baking (mmm chocolate) ummm, cards (geez this is all random-haha), singing, dancing (the ballroom kind, well- and the gyrating kind too, I guess) and getting drunk and talking about completely inappropriate things...seriously, its a problem.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

my seeming Irishness (is that a word?)- green eyes, red hair, freckles- though ironically, I'm not Irish...

Apparently here in England, its my teeth. As my friends say "That's not a British smile." (shrug)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

I don't really have favorites, at least if I do they're too numerous and too changeable...But here's a few staples:

a) Shakespeare!, Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Dune, Watership Down, Jane Austen (chick books yes, but so funny!) Harry Potter, LOTRs, DragonSinger, Princess Bride, A Secret History,anything by Sherri S. Tepper and countless more...

b) Much Ado About Nothing (Kenneth Branauh version, minus Keanu Reeves- bleh), FAME, Enigma, Pirates of the Caribbean, Kiss Me Kate and other musicals, Girl With A Pearl Earring, The Prestige, Stardust, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (don't mock me! it's soo funny and Spike is hot, ok Giles too), Firefly, and Greenwing!

c) I like most music, with the possible exception of rap, but I'll still listen. I love music you can dance to- like Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, or Nina Simone. Also, latin music, and of course classical; especially Wagner (great horn lines), most of the Russians, Chopin, Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart, oh most of 'em. I'm addicted to Tilly and the Wall, Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Dave Clark Five, anything folky and through my flatmate's influence The Libertines and Yo La Tengo.

d) I'm picky about food (lame I know). I have messed up taste buds. I don't like meat or seafood (I think its a texture thing...), but most everything else I like. Italian is my favorite.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Music, Books, Affection, My family, Wine, and Burt's Bees Lip Balm (I'm horribly addicted to its minty tingle! mmm)

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

balance. and curbing my tendency (like so many of my sex) to over analyze.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

doing things I might do any other night of the week: practicing, at a concert, working, drinking at my local, watching a movie, or going dancing.

Curling up in bed with a book and cup of tea is also a capitol way to finish off the week or with said bed, tea and a movie on your laptop. siiigh. Now just have to find someone to give me a back rub while all of this is going on and I am just in heaven!

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I will read in the bath until the water gets cold and my flatmate is asking through the door if I am still alive.

I also know the words to waaay too many old tunes from the forties and fifties. ( I grew up in a dance studio, enough said.)

I am incurably addicted to musicals and theatre.
