My self-summary
Temporarily displaced city girl. Major music and pop culture junkie seeking like-minded weirdos with a quirky sense of humor. I get excited about the little things in life. I try to reserve my judgment of others and I believe that everyone has the right to live the life they choose. Try to maintain an inner sense of calm but have some pretty killer moments of road rage. Always have creative impulses and ideas but don't always follow through on them.
What I’m doing with my life
Hitting up concerts, neighborhood festivals, baseball games, hanging with friends, trying new craft beer, combing food blogs for fun recipes to try, cooking kick-ass Italian food, making lists, crossing things off said lists, finding new bands to obsess over, yoga, and taking pictures of myself in front of the bean.

Oh yeah--work. I coordinate meetings for a small association in the north burbs. I love my job but don't live for it. I believe in working hard and being proud of what you do, but also striking a balance in all aspects of life.
I’m really good at
being modest.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently, I have an uber-read-able face. Everyone always knows what I'm thinking. It's why I can't play poker.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books--I was an English major, and read a lot, but I find it really hard to pick favorite authors or books. Jane Austen and To Kill a Mockingbird are my literary comfort foods. Chuck Klosterman, Augusten Burroughs, and David Sedaris are my literary junk food. Always looking for something new to read, open to recommendations if you've got something good.

Movies--The Green Mile, Inception, Shawshank Redemption, Away We Go, Stranger Than Fiction, Almost Famous, (500) Days of Summer, Zombieland, The Departed, The Hangover, Darjeeling Limited, Ocean's 11, The Wedding Singer, Crash, Pride & Prejudice, Harold & Kumar, Forrest Gump, Amelie, Across the Universe, Little Miss Sunshine, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (slowly making my way through reading the whole Hitchhikers Trilogy).

Music is my thang! Always looking for something new, some of the current faves are Passion Pit, Alt j, Bon Iver, Sleigh Bells, Rhye...but all-time faves include Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, Rise Against, Black Keys, Tom Petty, and Vampire Weekend. Really, this list could go on forever, though. Lately been working on my definitive top ten all-time favorite songs. This is much more difficult than I thought it would be.

TV--Don't really follow anything too closely these days, other than Walking Dead. When all else fails, Food Network.

Food--anything involving cheese, bacon, or avocado. Bonus points to anything incorporating all three. I grew up in an Italian household following my mother around the kitchen, so of course I gravitate toward Italian comfort food (and make a mean lasagna), but I like a little bit of everything.
The six things I could never do without
Well, given family and friends, because they go without car and the ability to drive it, access to music, caffeine in all its blessed forms, someone to bounce ideas off of, laughter, fuzzy blue scarf knit for me by my mother (read: things that remind me of the important people in my life, and sensible winter accessories).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...the butterfly effect. How different would my life be if I had left the house five minutes earlier this morning? Or taken a different route to work? Or took a different job altogether? I constantly catch myself wondering about that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night is my favorite time to go to the gym. It's so serenely quiet. Then probably Netflix and laundry. I know. Unless you want to break me out of my routine for a fun date...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
About ten years ago, I was flipping through a newspaper, and found a comic strip that i immediately loved. It was a picture of two old dudes staring into an aquarium. In the aquarium was the fairly common image of a line of fish, the next one bigger than the last, all with their mouths open ready to eat the smaller one in front of them. Except for the smallest fish. He was turned around facing all the bigger fish with his mouth open. And one old dude says to the other, "You gotta admire his spunk." I identify with that little fish. I still have that comic strip taped up in my room.

Also, I have a crush on Ron Swanson.
You should message me if
My new rule is no boring first dates. Message me if you have an idea for something fun we could do...or if you are looking for a brunch date. Or if you want to eat the tomatoes that I pick out of my food when we go out to eat. Or if you can teach me how to juggle. Or would like to have an overly emphatic conversation about avocado. Or the almighty Dave Grohl. Or if you come from an alternate universe and can tell me what would happen if I had indeed left the house five minutes earlier this morning...
