My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
As the first section of the profile, I find this is entirely too much pressure as a place to start. Pretend I was witty enough to keep reading. I may have just been. Then again, maybe not.

I've been in the DC area for a long damn time and yet I've never had any of the normal DC political / non-profit / government jobs. I've never been involved with politics, but always have been interested in causes and issues. I've done a lot of work for non-profits, but I try to stay out of political discussions.

Also, WMATA or GTFO (in other words, I don't have a car, and if you're not accessible without one that's a problem).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm co-own a full service design firm with a whole bunch of side projects like making a webcomic, helping run the "greatest live art competition in the known universe", teaching college, and whatever else I can fit in. I bike to get around and go to the gym/yoga/running when I can. Fueled by coffee and bourbon (see below).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making horrible puns at the wrong time, making coffee at the right time and finding something to do most of the time. Knowing a little bit about a lot of things (I'm great at trivia night).

I think I have a talent for getting along with different types of people, which is probably why I marked "irrelevant" for most questions I've answered. I'm willing to talk to most people about just about anything.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I get really excited about the things I'm into. I know how to tone it down, but if you ask me to I can talk about any of the things I'm passionate about (below) I'll convince you why they're awesome.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
BOOKS: I just looked at my bookshelf. It tells a sad story of things I need to read. Currently working on some design books about usability and design, but also always reading at least one or two comics and graphic novels. Some all-time favorites include The Cheese Monkeys, Snow Crash, The Big Sleep, Catch-22, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Understanding Comics. I try to trade off between "fun" books and "smart" books. Also ton of graphic novels (read Box Office Poison, it's amazing).

MOVIES: I'm a fan of interesting style and clever writing. I have a soft spot for Marx Brothers movies, When Harry Met Sally, Black Dynamite, High Fidelity, Brick, and most of the works of Aaron Sorkin. Oh, and I have been a part of and attended many midnight showings of Rocky Horror. I've seen my fair share of indie and foreign flicks, and liked most of them. My favorite thing about movies is talking about them with other people, whether they like them or hate them.

SHOWS: I keep up on a lot of TV while I'm doing other things. I've watched lots of British mysteries. I can't stand Big Bang Theory. Have you seen Steven Universe? If you have, definitely message me. I'm currently very obsessed and could use someone who appreciates it. The music alone, not to mention the beautifully painted backgrounds...

PODCASTS (yep, threw those in too): How Did This Get Made, Startup, Radiolab, Harmontown, Sklarboro Country, The Nerdist, and My Brother My Brother and Me.

MUSIC: The Sheepdogs, The Raconteurs, The Beatles (cliche I know), Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Cake, Tobacco, RJD2, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Protomen, a fair amount of Miles Davis-era jazz, a leftover teenage love of ska and punk, and an odd fascination with cover songs.

FOOD: Great coffee is big. I like to eat out and try new things, but love the classics like a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I tend to eat mostly vegetarian because I like to eat healthy. I keep "kosher style" (no cheeseburgers, but don't expect anyone else to). I like to cook but never by myself, unless it's homemade pizza. And pie. I have a severe weakness for pie. If you have a favorite type of or place to get pie, please let me know as soon as possible.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
(In order of least cliche to most) my bike, a no-spill travel mug full of coffee from Filter Coffeehouse, my iPhone, a sketchbook and friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
creative ideas and what to do with them. Between design and comics and other side projects, I'm always writing or scheming about something.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
MC-ing in a live action art competition I help run. We do shows up and down the east coast and beyond. Otherwise I'm grabbing drinks with friends, possibly on a rooftop, somewhere with a good beer selection or at least a pretty good bourbon that you can actually hear what people are saying. Unless it's been a really terrible week, then on the couch catching up on my Hulu/Netflix queue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is either too private to mention or too obvious for me to think of.

Also, apologies for ending a sentence with a preposition.
You should message me if

you feel like messaging me. Just to chat and possibly to socialize is fine, and if you're anything like me don't worry about how to start writing. I always have trouble starting messages. Here's a writing prompt: pizza or tacos?

Finally, instead of winking or starring or whatever, feel free to just say hello.
