I'm good at all the important stuff, like body rolls, accents, putting on characters and coming up with awesome band names, such as 'The Element of Surprise'. Yes I just came up with that. Yep, right then.
forget the books I've read and movies I've seen that I really liked
at the time, but..
Fav books include..book version of a lecture by anthropologist Wade Davis which inspired me to volunteer in Borneo, called 'Why Ancient Wisdom Really Matters', Oblivion Stories by David Foster Wallace & his non fiction articles, Tolstoy short stories, Wuthering Heights, 80s make up books, anything by Catherine Mackinnon, actually feminist books generally, Carl Sagan stuff.
Movies..umm..that one with the guy from the wonder years where his brother is a Super Mario Brothers expert player, What About Bob, Terminator and Terminator 2, Rockys 1 & 2, Teen Witch, the Supermans featuring Christopher Reeve, Supergirl, Teen Wolf with Michael J Fox. Back to the Futures 1 and 2, Karate Kids 1, 2 and 3. All the Ghostbusters, Uncle Buck. Dr Zhivago, As for more recent, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind (of course), 500 days of Summer, Austin Powers 1&2, that English zombie one, Into the Wild (that killed me), oh and The Prestige. That kept me awake at night, and it gets special points for David Bowie as Nikolas Tesla.
Music..umm, older stuff like Kate Bush (my favourite artist), Grace Jones, Hall & Oates, Air Supply, Michael Jackson, Sade, Motown, 10cc, Al Green, Aretha, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Doobie Bros, Beach Boys, yacht rock, an aussie artist named Gotye...oh there is just so much I like. Oh, and my songs too! www.soundcloud.com/roxangella
Umm..well of course my glasses/contacts. Did I mention I'm almost blind! Yes my photos are deceiving because 90% of my time I've got Le Specs on.
I'm also always carrying round either a Chinese parasol or children's umbrella (possibly Batman or ToyStory themed), because I burn easily under heavy sun.
A guitar..though not quite true because I'm doing without one now, sadly. Anyone have any ideas where I could get one cheap?
My awesome Zoom4 portable recorder so I can record song ideas.
Matching t-shirt and pant combos aka Leisurewear.
Hey this doesn't really fit here but you know what I also like? Moments of awesomeness when you break out of yourself and feel like a child again - like this morning at 5.30am when a mariachi band just out of the blue started playing outside our apartment block. It just woke everyone up. It was just totally crazy like breaking us out of our sleep into a dream-weird place. In my sleep stupor, I ran out of the house to find them So excited. So fun. Know what I mean?
