My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
How many profiles have you read? Do any of them really stand out anymore? The same old “I enjoy travel” and then a laundry list of hobbies and maybe the “likes all types of music”. Then throw in an “easy going” or “open-minded” so people will not be so defensive when they meet you. Me I think that kind of cookie-cutter profile has been overdone, time for something new. I’m Gary and I’m not a cut and paste kind of profile. When a waitress or waiter asks, “How’s your day going?” I think its alright to tell them, “The day has been a wreck and it feels like it’s been Monday for 3 days in a row.” If it’s the truth then why not? I think it’s important to talk to wait staff and gas station attendants, the bag boy at the grocery store. They are some of the most fun and interesting people you will meet. Plus, they have some amazing things to say when you let them talk. Try it and see if you don’t like it. I also have made the discovery that people aren’t made of glass and that if they ask a question… most times they would like an honest answer. I find that the two most important traits a person can have it the ability to hold a conversation and the tendency to have a fun time. I think I’ve babbled on for an adequate length. on to the next question!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am fortunate in that I have a career that I enjoy and that fits my personality. That being said I have good days and bad like everyone else. Besides my job I have a fairly carefree life that allows me to enjoy life and explore new interests.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking to strangers, having intellectual conversations, fixing things, guessing a song from the first few notes, appreciating people for their differences and giving people nicknames.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I'm not a big reader ... but, Author Malcolm Gladwell or something psychology related.
Movies: I'm not picky.
Shows: Whatever I click on after 30 minutes of looking around on Netflix
Music: My current playlist has: Rise Against, Three Days Grace, Colt Ford, Mumford & Sons, Victor Wooten, Zac Brown Band, Here Come the Mummies, Vitamin String Quartet, Hinder... and on and on... (I frequent The Machine Shop)
Food: I'm not a picky eater... but, when I was young I was. :)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
We can do without most things... so to prevent this from being a list of things a person would want to have if trapped in the woods or being in a "Walking Dead" situation I'll go with things I enjoy when not trapped or running from the undead:
Family & Friends
Music & Podcasts
My Car
Swiss Army Knife
Mornings when there is nothing to do...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I tend to think about random things. Could be anything from something I read in the news or saw on ESPN. Might be some concept I read in a book or heard in a podcast. I tend to have an active mind so it keeps busy thinking about all kinds of things.
Might also be something I found on the internet... like this...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I might be at a concert, or trying a new craft beer. Might be doing laundry and watching a movie. Could be driving up north to do some camping. Maybe hanging with friends or family. Might even be a combination of 2 or 3 of these things at the same time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't tell people my middle name of B-Day until I know them well and trust them.
