I am fun-loving, goofy, and nerdy.
My Self-Summary
Well, I love
reading and watching movies. I don't
watch an insane amount of TV, but I love
The Colbert Report,
The Daily Show,
Burn Notice,
Criminal
Minds, House,
ESPN, and Scrubs. Although it pains me to
admit it, I also love watching stereotypical chick shows like
Private Practice and on occasion, Grey's Anatomy. That's about the
extent of my sterotypical "chickiness" though. Like most, I enjoy
drinking on occasion, hanging out with friends, and generally
having a good time. I have played
rugby for the last couple of years, but
had to take this season off for lack of time. Oh, and I looove a
good game of
racquetball and I'm extremely
competitive with it. I'm attracted to nice guys that can carry on
an intelligent conversation. Honesty and loyalty are really
important to me. I love to be around people that have a sense of
humor and those that can't take a good joke tend to get under my
skin. Other than that, I'm pretty easygoing.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an undergrad with a Biology major and minors in Chemistry and
Philosophy I'm
a senior now and I've only recently been wavering on what I want to
do after I graduate. I'll probably go to Med School either way, but
I'm debating between also getting my Ph.D. and doing clinical
research or just doing the M.D. thing and picking a specialty.
Either way, I'll pretty much be in school until I'm a senior
citizen.
I’m really good at
Racquetball. (Or at least I'd like to think I'm pretty good. You be
the judge.)
I've recently started writing a highly sarcastic and generally
left-leaning opinion column for the school paper. I've been told it
makes for a pretty damn good read.
Seeing both sides of an argument. That doesn't mean that I won't
pick a side and stand by it (in fact, quite the contrary), it just
means that I'm open-minded and want to understand what's going on
before I make or defend a claim which I tend to do with
fervor.
Standing up for what I think is right. I guess in a manner of
speaking, this is a bit of an extension the former thing "I'm
really good at."
The first things people usually notice about me
From what I've heard, probably my smile. I would also say my
sarcasm, except alot of people don't really catch it until they've
known me for a while.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
A. Invisible Monsters,
Fight Club, Lullaby, Anything Else by
Chuck
Palahniuk, Love in the Time of Cholera, The Da Vinci Code,
Angels and Demons,
America the Book, To Kill A
Mockingbird,
Pride and Prejudice, Hamlet,
The Birth of Venus, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, a
fair bit of nerdy science stuff...
B. The Dark Knight, Juno, Office Space, Anchorman, Pride and
Prejudice, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,
Waiting, Mel Brooks Movies in general, The "Ocean's" Series, Sin
City, Donnie Darko, The Gangs of New York, most anything with
Johnny Depp.
C. Lots of Indie,
Arctic Monkeys,
Radiohead,
The Fratellis,
Thirsty Merc,
Meat Puppets, The Flaming
Lips,
Coldplay,
Weezer, Tally Hall, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Green Day,
Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys,
The Dandy
Warhols, Better Than Ezra, 80's music, some oldies. I'm
exceedingly picky about country music and I'm a generally not a big
fan of rap or hiphop unless it's some of the good oldschool
stuff.
D. Indian food (especially really good curry or mulligatawny),
pretty much any other ethnic food, hot wings with the really spicy
tangy sauce, beef jerky, sushi
The six things I could never do without
Aside from the obvious life-permitting necessities:
My Phone
A Good Book
Decent Movies
Humor/Sarcasm
A Good Friend to Talk To
Hmmm, that's only five. Well, I suppose I could live without good
music and Johnny Depp, but who would want to?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Wondering the following:
Why are the proteins I'm trying to do research with the most
difficult proteins in the world to isolate (sorry for the nerd
talk, but I really do wonder these things alot)?
Why do so many people reject rational ideas when they, by
definition, make sense?
Are there really no decent guys out there or am I just a cynicist?
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing cards and/or drinking with friends, watching movies, or
reading a book...all good options.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Hmmm...well, I have one tattoo (an irish/celtic piece I got the day
I turned 18) and eventually want one more. Not sure what other
interesting private info to put here because I'm not a terribly
secretive person. If you want to know something, I guess your best
bet is to ask me.
You should message me if
You have a good sense of humor,
You are attracted to intelligent women,
You are reasonably mature and responsible, but still know how to
have a good time.
You should NOT message me if you're looking for a shallow
'relationship'. I've had enough of those to last a good long while.
