My self-summary
I love to relax with friends or enjoy "me time" at home with a book and my dog, but there's just too much to see and do to remain sedentary all the time. I'm known for taking a solid and often vocal stand on behalf of important issues, or people, that aren't being recognized.

When choosing a partner, I want someone who appreciates the gift of family, who can look in awe at the landscape around him while driving and singing at the top of his lungs to classic rock. I don't have a specific guide to the perfect man. I thought I'd gain more clarity about this as I got older, but, on the contrary, my list of requirements only diminishes as I better understand the complexity of what makes us all such ambitious yet floundering adults :) I simply want for us to be looking in the same direction. I'm most attracted to passionate men who can challenge me, introduce me to something different, and be open minded to experiencing new things for the first time together.

I have skied my whole life and would like to find someone who could keep up with me on the slopes :) Yes, that is a challenge! As a runner, I enjoy starting a Sunday morning with a fun NYRR event in Central Park and getting young children involved in sports that help build their confidence. It would be great to find someone who enjoys working with kids and has his own athletic interests.

Having someone to share the adventure with would be more a blessing and a comfort than an obligation. In my experience, your own happiness is only enhanced when you have someone to share it with. I am no doubt the hopeless romantic, and I intend to stay that way. I'm looking for the guy who can prove that blind faith right.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach middle school literacy in the South Bronx. It's a challenge, but I learn at least as much from students as they could ever learn from me. I will probably devote the rest of my life to urban education, but will likely pursue a PhD in the near future.
I’m really good at
Sending cards on special ocassions, singing off key at the top of my lungs, playing tug-of-war with my dog, connecting with disenfranchised teens.
The first things people usually notice about me
Typical Irish girl: reddish hair, pale skin, blue eyes
The six things I could never do without
My mom and sister.
My dog.
My students.
My cell phone.
My running shoes.
My books.
On a typical Friday night I am
I love my job, but it's EXHAUSTING, so I'm usually just up for a couple glasses of wine over dinner.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a lost cause in the kitchen :/
