My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The torment of filling up a blank white space by writing something witty, informative and relatively accurate about yourself... horrors. Thankfully, I fancy myself a cunning linguist , and will bravely charge this particular windmill.

Beyond what the basic profile and the other entries say, I'm newly single and new to the area. I'm a tad (read: rather) quirky, too smart for my own good, and in addition to working as a professional academic, I like endurance sports and activities (marathons, triathlons, hiking, etc.). P90X is quite possibly both one of the best and worst things that ever happened to me.

I've lived lots of places, both here and abroad, and I've seen lots of things, both wonderful and terrible, but I'm always hungry for more. I've got a rather dark and wicked sense of humor, which is all the better for keeping the sensitive romantic inside from being hurt too easily.

I have a penchant for many things geekish (see the mc chris song: "Nerd Girl"), and do a very good impersonation of a homebody, but I secretly love being dragged out for a good time. One acquaintance once described it: "Dude, I would call you the biggest nerd I've ever met, but you're a little too self-aware, much too dirty, and a tad too high functioning socially. You're some new breed of supernerd. I fear for the future of mankind."
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently, the government seems to think I'll make a decent cross between a professional know-it-all and a babysitter of gifted children between the ages of 25 and 65. I'm currently trying to get back into the endurance sport routine of eating healthy home cooked meals and obeying Rule #1 of Zombieland (cardio) after several years of grad school. I also enjoy writing various types of fiction in the spare time I can find.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Running, creative and academic writing, public speaking, analytical thinking, classical and jazz musicianship, remembering all kinds of useful and not-so-useful information, bull-shitting (particularly making it appear I know more than I really do), relating to animals and small children, playing devil's advocate, long-distance driving, hiking or sailing (endurance meets a good sense of direction).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Since getting Lasik and losing my glasses, probably my eyelashes and my relatively poor ability to tan. Personality wise, probably intelligence, a subversive sense of humor, and the ability to continuously surprise.

Going for a run during/after sunset, catching up on recorded TV and doing laundry, or going to the movies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I make mistakes, which is something we all seem to be desperately trying to conceal from everyone else.
