She wants a man who is flawed, humorous, passionate, and brave. A southern boy who shuns sparkle and shine, loves getting dirty, while appreciating the finer things. A guy who is perfectly capable of blending in flawlessly to multiple social environments. A fellow who loves women who are not ashamed to be women - girly, soft, and pretty. A boy in a man's body, who is playful at times, insecure at others, always moved along by his heart. Well-intentioned, with a moral compass tempered by the hard experience of reality.
I'm originally from the Appalachian foothills of West Virginia, Kentucky and southern Ohio.
I enjoy music, playing, and singing. Here's my recent, acoustic rendition of I've Just Seen A Face: http://youtu.be/DstcauCR5Kw
I became passionately interested in art when I was six-years-old. I became a published newspaper cartoonist at age 13, and then permanently when I was 20. You can see my comic strip, The Apple Tower at: www.appletower.com. Easy!
I'm also a Spanish linguist in the medical field. Spanish is a language I had to acquire. We barely speak proper English where I'm from, let alone Spanish. So I spent years mastering both.
I grew up in rugged wilderness conditions. There was no running water in my home until I was 19. One of my chores every night was to go down into the woods with two buckets and bring back water from a natural, fresh-water spring - which still provides frigid, delicious water year-around to this day. I truly love the woods. Though my line of work requires me to live in a larger city nowadays, I spend a lot of time on long-distance wilderness backpacking excursions. Don't let this scare you away. It's my thing, you aren't obligated to do it just because I do.
I'm an insatiable reader, and a perpetual student. I love humility as a strength. Arrogance, pride, and haughtiness are major turn-offs for me. It makes me sick to my stomach when I see people with these qualities being celebrated and rewarded.
I have a dog, Bradbury (or 'Braddy') who is the coolest dog in the world. He is a blackmouth cur from Mississippi. (Old Yeller was a blackmouth cur.) People ask if I ever get jumpy in the woods at night alone, and the answer is no, not as long as I have Braddy with me.
I also have a cat, Compass, who believes himself Grand Poobah of the universe.
Tag, your turn.
