My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m 25 and graduated with my doctorate last year. I’ve relocated to Southern New York for a job opportunity and don’t know too many people down here. I figured I’d make a profile on OkCupid in an attempt to meet some new friends. I’m not much for the bar scene and I haven’t joined any groups or activities down here yet, so the internet seemed like a viable option. Some of the more important aspects about me:

I’m fit, but not a fitness nut. I exercise regularly and take care of myself.

I’m neat but not obsessively so.

I’m quiet, but not withdrawn.

I'm confident, have a great sense of humor (sometimes a little inappropriate though) and love intellectually stimulating conversation. I don't shy from controversial topics, like religion, politics, ethics or sports.

I am largely nonreligious (agnostic leaning towards a more
secularized humanism) but I tolerate and accept all faiths and belief systems as long as they aren’t pushed on me.

I am a non-smoker and non-drinker. I don’t mind people using marijuana recreationally, but I'm not a huge fan.

I’m an animal lover, having owned numerous cats, birds and fish throughout my life.

I’m an avid movie fan, I’m well read and I appreciate the arts. I regularly attend plays and symphonies. I am not sure how available the fine arts are in my current area, but I’ll be on the lookout!

I love the outdoors; hiking, mountain biking, nature photography. I find peace in the serenity of nature.

I love tea! I drink it obsessively. I have about two dozen different kinds, both loose leaf and bagged. Tea is a bit of a passion.

I’ll probably add more things later…
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have always had a passion for science and medicine. The majority of my experience is in clinical medicine, but I have recently switched to community medicine with a large retail company. I have published scientific literature, done extensive volunteer work and have launched my career after several years of different practice experiences, both domestic and abroad.

At this point, I plan to establish myself within my profession, pay off my college loans, and start building a life for myself. Now that I have the time and stability to properly maintain friendships and relationships and the money to start investing in myself, I hope to experience as much of the world as possible. Maybe you’ll be part of that!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking (especially breakfast)
Arguing on the internet
Computer Technology (been building custom PCs for years)
Role-Playing Games (pen and paper or virtual)
The first things people usually notice about me

My intelligence and my sense of humor are definitely the two things people tend to notice first. Sounds so cliche.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Favorite authors include Aldus Huxley, Kahlil Gibran, Edgar Allen Poe, Walt Whitman, Anne Rice, Christopher Hitchens, HP Lovecraft, JRR Tolkien and many others...

I'm a HUGE movie buff. I own more than 300 DvDs and have seen probably more than one thousand different films. I love Horror (classic American and foreign), Science Fiction, Action/Adventure, Cerebral Thrillers, Capers, Documentaries, Musicals and sometimes Comedies.

I'm also a pretty big Television Show buff. Just recently I've finished Dead Like Me, Heroes, Lost, X-Files, Dexter, Prison Break, Nip/Tuck, Grey's Anatomy, (most of) ER, Law and Order (SVU), Community, Arrested Development and others...

I have extraordinarily eclectic musical tastes. I listen to just about everything. Just this afternoon I've been playing Massive Attack, Air, Deftones, Tenacious D, the soundtrack to Evita, Glitch Mob, Rihanna, Ozzy and Dream Theater. Not a huge country fan, admittedly.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Oxygen
2) Hydration
3) Caloric Intake

I'm just kidding! Some things I could never do without? As in material possessions or intangibles? I could never do without my friends and family. The people in my life mean everything to me. I could never do without a pet, I think. They love so unconditionally. I would have a hard time parting with my electronics! My laptop and smart phone get pretty abused. I could never do without the arts. Whether its film or theater or music, doesn't matter. Art is expression of ourselves and our human condition. It's so cathartic. I'd go crazy in a world without art. I could never do without my sense of humor either. Sometimes, I swear, it's the only thing that keeps me sane.

And coffee. How did humans survive before coffee? I have no idea.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why my toaster sets off my fire alarm but burning incense right underneath it has no effect
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working late, relaxing at home, traveling to someone/something exciting for the weekend, socializing. Pick one!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm a pretty big theater nerd and can occasionally be caught singing to Glee.
