My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I recently moved back to the Chicago land area from Sacramento. I worked out there for 3 years, but decided I wanted to go back to graduate school. After finishing my first year back at school, I am enjoying my first summer off in a while.

I'm a very self motivated person. I'm always trying to learn new or create something impressive, so I tend to have many hobbies. I have very strong opinions on many things, and I am looking for someone who does too.

I'm a huge fan of music, seeking out live music any time I can find someone decent playing. When I go to bars, I am happiest when there is some live music playing, though it is often tough to convince friends that live music bars are better than regular bars.

I don't understand people who don't find dumb things funny. How can you hear the word butts and not at least smile? Maybe it's because I have to spend so much mental energy at work/school, but there's no reason to be too serious all the time.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Now that I am back in the Chicagoland area, I am slowly reconnecting with everyone that I haven't seen in a while. I've been slowly exploring the surrounding restaurants and bars, and when I can find some live music worth listening to I head that way.

What I'm actually doing is graduate school, both working and learning. It does feel good to be back, though it is stressful and time consuming.

School ties up most of my weekdays, so I often spend the weekends relaxing, watching TV on the interwebs, or watching movies on Netflix. I also often hang out with friends on the weekend, either out at a bar or at a friend's apartment.

I very briefly had a band, and still intend to move more in that direction at some point. We just played covers, but if I ever get around to finish a song of my own, we could play some of those too.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Keeping my cool in most situations. Understanding how people think (helps in poker).

Me and my friends like to have "deep convo's" late at night after a couple of beverages. It's one of the few times I get to bust out some of the really cool things I've learned and actually have people listen.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
One time I tried to look intimidating, but nobody believed it. Everybody seems to think I'm really friendly looking. Maybe I should grow an evil clone goatee...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I don't read a lot of non-school related books, though I do read a lot of articles on the internet.

Some of my favorite movies are Garden State, Dan in Real Life, the Star Wars trilogy(the originals), lots of horror movies (especially zombie movies), Step Brothers, and many more.

I mostly listen to a lot of rock music, though I enjoy most types of music.

Some of my favorite bands are: the Smashing Pumpkins, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, the Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, Blink 182, and the Strokes. Also, any of John Frusciante's solo stuff (except for some of the crazier heroin fueled songs) is amazing.

Lately I've been listening to: Metric, No Doubt, The Joy Formidable, First Aid Kit, Ok Go, Alt-J, and whatever my shuffle happens to play.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My guitar
My family
My friends
The internet
Video Games
TV
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The future, and how I can be a pioneer in making it brighter and much cooler. And by that I mean I want to do something along the lines of creating a revolutionary new technology, discovering a more complete description of the universe, or just doing the coolest things possible with our current technology.

Also, why does my profile seem so much like a resume...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with friends, playing guitar, going out to see some live music, or just catching up on sleep.
