My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
This is going to be the year of optimism. Break out of the monotonous world, and do things, lots of things. I am letting my open minded, loving and warm personality lead me in this direction, and would love to find someone to travel this road with. My musical endeavors are very close to my heart, and I am finding a great amount of happiness in taking on new challenges all aspects of life.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spend my days cooking and driving a truck for a local bakery, but in the evenings I work for my own interests, mostly music, be it production, performance, or just enjoyment. I am an atypical musician. Many people give up before they get to this point, but it may be paying off now. I love music.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Musical and intellectual challenges. Listening. I find that the best way to get to know someone is to just let them talk and be a receptive listener. I love being creative, and putting my brain to good use.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I am smiling, which is fairly often, probably my dimples. If I am wearing it down, probably my hair, it's getting kinda long. I have been letting it go for years, but just lately have been accepting the fact that if you have it, flaunt it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Not necessarily most favorite, but lists of 5 favorites:

Books: East of Eden, Steinbeck; The Farm, Bromfield; Life After God, Douglas Coupland; Lizard Music, Pinkwater; The Big Short, Lewis

Music: Rolling Stones, Datarock, Bill Evans, Faith No More, Jellyfish

TV: Doctor Who, Bob's Burgers, Louie, Portlandia, Breaking Bad
Past TV sub-category: Firefly, The Wire, 30 Rock.

Movies: Any Humphrey Bogart film (The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, etc.), Die Hard (guilty pleasure and a half), Singles, Until the End of the World (Under appreciated Wim Wenders classic, but long), French noir classics (Elevator to the Gallows, Rififi, etc.)

Food: Lasagna, All day soups, Barbecue (Smoked not necessarily sauced), Sausages (Wursts, Italian, Merguez, Chorizo, etc.), Croque Madame (Ham and cheese sandwich with Béchamel and an egg on top).

I posted those lists after the following original answer:

I really like almost any media that is intellectually stimulating. Some of my favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Douglas Coupland, Hunter S. Thompson, and Michael Lewis. I love a good book, but I also like television that is funny, intelligent, or just downright emotional. Some of my favorites are Doctor Who, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Bob's Burgers, Happy Endings, Top Gear, Suburgatory. I guess I have a guilty pleasure of watching sitcoms.

My taste in music is wide and varied, with little exception. My favorite musician probably is Bill Evans, a Jazz pianist. My favorite current band is a Norwegian dance pop/rock group called Datarock. All time faves include the Stones, Beatles, Pink Floyd. I also like 80's pop/rock, 90's Alt Rock, and Modern Euro-Lounge, for lack of a better term. I also play many different styles of music and instruments, such as saxophone, piano, guitar, and also sing. Music is probably what brings me the greatest happiness in life currently.

My favorite movies are: some of the Noir/French new wave such as Elevator to the Gallows, Rififfi, The Killing by Kubrick, Any Humphrey Bogart film, but especially The Maltese Falcon. I love subtitled movies, independent movies, and anything that makes you think and appreciate the variety of life.

I am a restaurant cook also, and I'd say that really good barbecue is my favorite food right now, but I love well thought out dishes of any stripe. I would call myself a sensual person, I guess. This is my favorite question to answer, but I cannot even begin to explain my love of each topic.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I'm going to leave my original answer below, but here's a simple list:
1,2. My musical instruments, Guitar and Saxophone.
3. Good music
4. Good food.
5. Sanity
6. Humor.

Yeah, that's not much better than my previous answer, but I feel that the metaphysical answer i originally gave was a bit too deep.

Half a dozen of Island/Cave/post-apocalyptic wants or needs. Well, if you discount the obvious sustenance of life, I think the first would be Melody and Harmony. I guess that's two. As a musician I love to think of life as a piece of music where one person lives their own melody, and our surroundings provide the accompaniment. The third is Happiness. Pleasure comes from within I believe it is said. Fourth, Intellect, to realize and make sense of all that happens. Creativity would probably come next from within the intellect. If one can create out of "whole cloth", anything is possible. Lastly, Love, how cheesy, but this has gotten into a real philosophical answer anyways, so yes, Love. I guess this is what I may be seeking here.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
life, and the path i am currently on. Sometimes I wonder what I can do to make my life better and happier, or what has led me to my present state of being.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
realizing that there is no "typical" Friday night. Since I work six days a week, almost anything is possible any night of the week. There is usually some live music I want to go see. But being a homebody, making it out of the house is the biggest challenge.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When people find out that my younger brother lives with me, they tend to say the same thing, "I could never live with a sibling." I agree, I have to say that it is probably the hardest, most emotionally draining part of my daily life.
