My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hyper-imaginative, self-published sci-fi novelist, professional illustrator, former boxer, absurdist, Strangite. Somewhat grounded in my status as a manly feminist with a sex-positive outlook on gender relations. Playfully prodding, very physical, highly enthusiastic yet extremely considerate. I go back and forth between intense literary focus and utter human silliness.

I have a talent for spurts of pure objectivity. They don't last long, but they're special, and I hold them close as cherished evidence that my student loans are not totally arbitrary.

I am large and very kind.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Reeling from the surprisingly underwhelming act of having published my first novel, working as a graphic novel artist to pay for life, occasionally doing low-level stunt work for television in an effort to make extra money, and to see the world outside my home illustration studio.

I still box when possible, but rarely do 10 round sparring sessions anymore, as I don't think I can afford to forget any more trivia, and I dare not risk damaging my capacity for obscure vocabulary. Rare diction and inventive-yet-accurate syntax brings the classy ladies.

Taking breaks frequently from painting, often with the sudden desire to be among people. Also, making failing-but-admirable strides to correct my sleeping schedule.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
analysis, spontaneously doing things out of my price range due to social pressure, drawing, writing, boxing, outbursts of spontaneous affection prompted by something wonderful you just said, explaining the flawed logic behind the Met closing at 5:30

being generous with witticisms while maintaining conversational focus, being totally comfortable with other people's emotions.

It has also occurred to me recently that I have excellent taste in friends. Every person who has gone the distance with me socially and sentimentally is a truly good and loving person- and if someone isn't, I have the rare ability to dispassionately allow them to slip out of my emotional periphery.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall and somehow totally unassuming.
That I'm either wearing plaid or a sweater.
I make fairly consistent eye contact.
A degree of confidence that is replaced with utter glee at the mention of anything involving dragons, time machines, good literature, or pop music from the 80's.

I've been attempting to put my face in Infinite Jest again, but honestly I really prefer Wallace's journalistic stories.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
mechanical pencils, the voice of Freddie Mercury, books- some with pretty pictures, boxing gloves, banter, James Horner's "Ride Of The Firemares" from the Krull soundtrack
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My own fictional characters, how best to circumvent the seemingly wild inconsistency of the G train, other people's books, the sociology and biology of gender, the delightfully anarchist politics of 1930's Superman.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Staying out later than I intended, sometimes due to invitations from charming people, other times due to a looming sense that my youth and subsequent vitality are wasted if I go home to draw or write something instead of filling my lungs with New York.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am always well-liked, and always slightly out of place in every room I'm in.

I spent a decent amount of time answering these questions whilst trying to make it appear as though I am being flippant.

you feel helplessly compelled to do so, if you find the idea of a conspicuously male feminist appealing,
if you would like to teach me something extraordinary, if you know what 'Strangite' means in the beginning of my profile.

... OR if you want to hear a true story about how I once pulled a woman from the train tracks!
